View David's Profile
Availability: Weekends / Weekdays (evenings)
Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / Online
| About David: I am married with 3 children who all go to school in Mold, Flintshire. I teach on the Wirral. My wife is also a teacher in Sealand, Flintshire. I live close to Mold High Street and can travel up to 5-10 miles. Due to my managerial teaching position (yukky meetings), I am available for tutoring between 6pm and 9pm. I am currently Year 3/4 Manager and ICT co-ordinator in a large primary school on the Wirral. My teaching expertise are in Reading, Writing, Maths, Science and ICT. I was, until the funding ran dry, a Leading ICT teacher for Wirral LEA. |
Teaching Experience: Four years teaching in Tower Hamlets, London followed by 11 years until present in a large Primary school on the Wirral. I have worked mostly with KS1 children (age 4-7) but have recently worked with KS2 (age 7-11). A high percentage of the children I work with have Special Educational Needs and I am very familiar with current approaches which I utilise on a daily basis. |
Tutoring Approach: I think the most fundamental lesson any adult can learn is that you cannot teach and unhappy child. So - no boring workbooks and stern faces then. Relationships with children are key and I have a pretty good track record at getting the best out of the children I teach. From experience I know that we need to work in small steps, identify the mistakes kids make and think of a way to fix them. Most children (and adults) have mix-ups and confusions that slow their progress and cause uncertainty in their understanding. When we sort these out, confidence improves and the tricky things become distant memories. At the end of the day, it's your money and if you feel a tutor is right for your child, then I'm here to work with you in a way that suits you. I fully encourage parents to sit in on lessons if they want and ask questions. It's a good learning opportunity all round. |

| About Charlene: I am a hard working and dedicated person whom strives to be the best at whatever I embark upon, I believe firmly that if something is worth doing, it should be done properly the first time with no room for second standard work. I pride myself in being a punctual, determined and organized individual who manages her time effectively to ensure that my work is of the best, and as I take such care to produce good quality work I find time to unwind with a good book or movie to inspire me to keep up the standards. I expect all my students to put in the hard work and i promis them that i will give them my all to help them succeed |
Teaching Experience: I am currently studying my MEd in Education at Bolton University, I have been working at Oldham College and am currently a supply teacher, gaining experience in the Further Education and secondary school sectors. The time I spent at Oldham College and at various places as a supply teacher has given me a wide insight to the types of typical classroom situations that I may face during my career and everyday provides another challenge and scenario to overcome. I feel that I have gained valuable experience and wish to continue on my journey of teaching both ICT and Multimedia. I have dealt with a range of difficult students from autistic through to deaf and mentally handicapt students, many of my students have overcome personal and mental problems to enable them to fulfill their studies. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is modern and fun, i have a firm ideology that students learn best when they are interested and entertained by their subject. I provide a series of practical tasks for them to complete rather than focusing on the purely theoretical side of the subject. |

| About Vijay: "How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?" - Arthur Conan Doyle, Sir - The Sign of Four Which words catch your attention the most in the above quote? - Words "Impossible" and "Improbable" of course. These two words are by far the most strongest ever words that rule the world of possibilities and probabilities. Our day to day life revolves around these words, yet we stay quite unaware of them. We are pursuing the "Truth" behind every material, immaterial entity that we come across. Even I'm a crusader in voyage of conquering the unknown. Well I had this knack of revealing the unveiled face since infancy. Though I believe Impossible and Improbable lures around, but my fight with them prevails. Every time I face such a situation, I find myself to win it out. Might be 'cause I know what the result will be. Might sound optimistic, but that's how I'm. I graduated in Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering (1998), also did MBA from Middlesex University (2005) . I have worked in Investment Banks as Business Manager, Project Manager, IT developer & Business Analyst. |
Teaching Experience: Since childhood I always liked Maths, Science and IT subjects. All modern advancements (computers, mobiles, wireless, internet, digital TV, emails) are gifts from these subjects. I always wanted to be in touch with the concepts. The only way I could find was to teach 11-16year old friends. I have taught GCSE level, A level students. They have achieved good scores in their results. I get personal achievement through their achievements. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe everyone is different (just like the fingers in your hand). I also believe in structure. Hence I prefer to adapt a study structure as per the individuals needs. At the same time I don't stick to routine, I prefer to work out what suits best with the individual. To me Learning shouldn't be a chore, one should enjoy learning. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / Online
| About Michael: Mathematics and science have played a major role in my life since I left the kindergarten. Eventually I studied mathematics, physics, computing and logic in a five-year course at the University of Leipzig. After I finished my degree, I worked for seven years as a research assistant in theoretical chemistry at the department of mathematics of University of Leipzig, and eventually completed my PhD in this field. When I moved to London I worked as post-doctoral research fellow in bioinformatics at Brunel University. I enjoy playing chess and belong to a London chess club. German is my native language and I sometimes translate articles from German to English. |
Teaching Experience: I am giving tutorials in maths and German for four month, including tutorials for undergraduate maths students. I have worked as a sessional tutor while I was at university in Leipzig, where I gave private tutorials in maths for university and secondary school students. I also worked for "Schlerhilfe" - a private school that has branches all over Germany - where I gave tutorials for small groups of pupils. |
Tutoring Approach: Logic and mathematics can be learned and practised like sports. Even if you don't believe you have natural talent, you can still learn maths. The best way to learn mathematics and physics is through exercises. In the tutorials I will introduce and explain the matter, discuss examples and give exercises for self-study in preparation for the next tutorial. In this way we can monitor progress and adapt the speed of teaching. German tutorials will be focused on speaking and listening, but will strongly depend on the needs of the student. If wished, I will also put emphasis on reading and writing skills. I will use recommended textbooks as guidelines if there are no particular requirements. While I have a general idea about how to teach, I will adopt it to individual needs and discuss my approach with the student. I am open and welcome feedback. This is a good way to find out what suits the student best and to tailor the tutorials to meet it. |
