Information About Heather:

Personal Description:

I have been a full time tutor for the past twelve years but have fifteen years experience altogether. I have also taught English as a Foreign language for three years in South Korea.

I read both fiction and non-fiction books and can recommend reading literature based on age, ability and genre. I enjoy learning Italian and this reminds me of how students feel when they learn a new concept or technique.

Teaching Experience:

I have fifteen years of tutoring experience on a one-to-one basis and with small groups within schools. My experience includes KS3 and GCSE English literature and language. I have extensive knowledge of the main GCSE syllabuses including AQA, Edexcel and IGCSE.

I have taught many SEN students and have adapted lessons and strategies based on their needs. These include students with ASD, ADHD, ADD and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly, approachable and reliable tutor who has high expectations of her students. I will always accommodate and assist my students to the best of my ability. I enjoy imparting knowledge and confidence in young people in order to give them the best chances in both exams and their lives going forward.
