Information About Serah:

Personal Description:

My name is Serah, and I am pursuing my Master's in Biotechnology at the University of Manchester.

I have always liked to teach and enjoy being able to help others learn and understand concepts. I am very well versed in Biology and Math as I have been consistently studying these subjects throughout my school, undergrad and now master's degree. I am also fluent in French and can help students speak, read and write in French.

I have always volunteered to become a tutor as I am passionate about teaching and find the experience rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

This will be my first official tutoring job, but I have experience in tutoring at my school and college,

In school, I was a student volunteer involved in teaching primary language and communication skills to mentally challenged children aged 8-12. I have also tutored students aged 11-14 in Math, Science and French. I enjoy working with children and being able to help them understand and learn new concepts.

During my undergrad, I was a peer tutor and was responsible for tutoring students my age in subjects they needed help with. I mainly tutored in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Math.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that every student has the potential to learn and understand better with the right approach. I prefer to simplify topics to have a basic understanding of concepts and then build on that to increase knowledge. As a student, I struggle with maintaining a long attention span, so I try my best to keep my classes engaging and interesting. After teaching a few basic concepts, I help students apply their knowledge and understanding by giving them questions and quizzes to practice. I am also always open to questions and repeating concepts if required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology
• Previous tutoring experience in Math and Science
• A-Level certificate
