Personal Description:
I offer targeted English tutoring services from key stages 1 to 4, with a specialism in special educational needs. My programmes of study not only meet the national curriculum outcomes, but incorporate self-regulation strategies and tactile resources to nurture a passion for learning.
I'm a full-time educator teaching English at an SEN school in Amersham, with a background rooted in youth and outreach work. I've been tutoring for five years and also teach meditation and Qigong for health and wellbeing.
I bring with me extensive experience, excellent interpersonal skills and a nurturing approach to help students meet their full potential.
I have worked with a range of diagnoses, including ADHD, ASD and dyselxia/dyspraxia. Programmes are adapted to suit the individual needs of each learner.
Teaching Experience:
I've been teaching for over ten years exclusively in special educational needs, as well as working with neuro-typical teenagaers in a pastrol, youth work capacity. My subject experience includes English, performing arts, music and media studies. I have been a private tutor for five years; some families have consistently used my services for the duration of this timespan due to the positive relationships I foster.
I have experience teaching the following qualifications:
- GCSE Language and Literature (all exam boards including IGCSE)
- Functional Skills 1&2
- Step Up to GCSE
- Entry Level English (all exam boards)
Tutoring Approach:
I am a personable, nurturing practitioner who puts the individual learning requirements of the students at the forefront of my practice. My highly structured primary programme incorporates strategies developed with speech and language therapists (SALT) and educational psychologists; we balance learning with tactile activities that develop memory, speech and fine motor skills, as well as embedding core literacy skills in line with the national curriculum.
Moving upwards to KS3 and beyond, I am able to diagnose the areas for development quickly, responding to these with tested strategies that will enable to student to achieve their goals all the way up to GCSE. .
Relationships are at the heart of my approach and my services have been used consistently by numerous families. My experience as a youth worker allows me to relate and engage with students of all backgrounds.
