Ralf - Keston tutor

Information About Ralf:

Personal Description:

After completing my PhD in Mathematics at Imperial College, London, I worked for a number of years as a research assistant supervising graduates. However, I spent most of my working life in Finance, Computer Software and Operations as well as Telecommunications. Over the past eleven years now, I have been tutoring GCSE, A-Level and adult learners in Maths and German (being a native German).

Teaching Experience:

Over the last eleven years I have been tutoring over 100 students to successfully achieve their GCSEs, A-Level, or vocational courses. In the past, I have also been tutoring German and Physics as well as Maths. However, because the demand for Maths is so great, I have been focusing on Maths lately. During the pandemic, sessions were held online when necessary and I am using a specific online whiteboard application to allow simultaneous working on exercises by student and tutor. Nevertheless, face-to-face tuition is more effective and should be preferred when possible.

Tutoring Approach:

The reason students have for tuition can vary widely and include having to resit examination or to achieving better grades. The tuition programme will therefore vary as well and will be an appropriate mix of topic revision, specific exercises and working on past paper.
