Aisha - High Wycombe tutor
Information About Aisha:
Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Aisha and I'm a fourth year medical student at Cambridge and a graduate in Natural Sciences (specialising in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience) from the University of Cambridge.
I am friendly and approachable and keen to help students accomplish incredible results. I'll keep the sessions fun and interesting to nourish their love for learning whilst helping students improve their exam technique!
My enthusiasm for science comes from having a brilliant chemistry teacher at school and I would love to encourage other students to enjoy learning. I have over 5 years of tutoring experience, both online and in person. I make sure my students feel heard by regularly checking in to ensure they make the most of our lessons and develop their skills to gain the grades they'd like!
I am very familiar with the stress and pressure that accompanies any assessment or exam, however, I hope to pass on skills and techniques, I have learnt during my academic career. Remaining calm and tackling problems methodically, as well as, managing my time efficiently has helped me get where I am today, which I am keen to share with my students. As a former tutee, I understand that one-to-one sessions with the right tutor providing the right guidance on how to approach exams, can simplify very hard concepts that are difficult to understand in big class groups at school.
Teaching Experience:
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience, both online and in person. This includes tutoring at 11+, GCSE and A- Level in addition to medical school and Oxbridge entrance exams and preparation.
Tutoring Approach:
Before beginning to tutor you, I will always make sure we discuss your current progress as well as your targets. I will look to do this by reviewing some past pieces of your work, or possibly setting you a short test. From there we can draw up a plan of action.
I will begin by teaching the core principles and foundation of the topics before delving into the application of principles including equations or theories in examples. Where possible I will teach the general method needed to tackle common questions that crop up in various topics. I like to use a range of different learning techniques including quizzes, flashcards and diagrams to keep the sessions interesting and help the student identify the learning techniques that work best for them.
Building on this, I will help the student develop better revision techniques helping continued learning outside tutorial sessions. As we progress we will go over past paper questions (specific to the exam board of the particular student) until the student is confident in their abilities. At the end of the session we will briefly discuss the focus of the next session allowing me to gather the required materials. Nearing the end of a chapter or subject I will also suggest we do a test to monitor progress.
