Information About Ray:

Personal Description:

A Chartered Shipbroker, I have been involved in the maritime and education sectors for over 35 years, in different capacities. My initial commercial experience was gained with British Steel in London, followed by work as an editorial team member on the internationally read Lloyd's Shipping Economist magazine. I subsequently entered the teaching profession in 1994, qualifying outright in 1997, and have been teaching and examining in shipping/business related subjects ever since.

Teaching Experience:

Initially with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers as a lecturer and examiner of Economics of Sea Transport and International Trade (1994-2002), I have subsequently taught Shipping Practice at London Guildhall University, A Level Business Studies and GCSE Maths at East Surrey College, and a full range of shipping and business-related Institute of Commercial Management Courses at London City College.
I have also been an Assistant Examiner with AQA for GCE Business Studies (2005-2016), and tutored privately through Dial-A-Tutor in Surrey for many years, until moving to Plymouth in 2014. I currently lecture part-time in Shipping & Logistics at the University of Plymouth International College.

Tutoring Approach:

To enable any student to become the best that they can be. Learning needs to be fun, undertaken in a safe and relaxed environment. There also needs to be full commitment from both tutor and student to achieve the mutually desired success. With my experience, I know what is required, and have a track record of satisfied and achieving students over many years.
