Personal Description:

I am an enthusiastic and positive person who puts the interests of all pupils at the heart of everything I do.
I am dual qualified to teach Biology and Chemistry and have experience of teaching and tutoring at all levels up to and including Advanced Higher.
I am available to tutor National 5 Biology and Chemistry, Higher Biology, Human Biology and Chemistry, and Advanced Higher Biology.
I live and teach in the Airdrie area, however, due to a conflict of interest I cannot tutor any pupils from Airdrie Academy.

Teaching Experience:

I am a teacher with 20 years of teaching experience at all levels of the current curriculum. I am head of Faculty for Science and am well versed in all teaching strategies and trusted to ensure the progression and development of all pupils within the Science Faculty. I am an SQA marker and use this experience to support pupils in developing their exam technique and increasing their confidence in their ability to complete all assessments. I have also been tutoring for over 15 years with excellent results for pupils in my care.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't believe in a one size fits all approach and I always look to create an individual and personalised plan for every pupil I work with, aimed at developing their specific needs and taking full advantage of their individual skills and abilities.
I offer a comprehensive support package for all pupils. Following an initial assessment session, I will work with the pupil to develop a tailormade plan to support their needs and help them achieve their full potential.
I will keep parents involved at every stage so they are fully aware of the plan and any targets we have set together. Targets may be based around better understanding of the curriculum, developing study skills or even just providing a much-needed confidence boost.
I will provide all materials required and may set additional home tasks depending on the plan agreed with both pupils and parents.
