Personal Description:

Originally from the east coast of Russia, I am a British-Russian dual citizen.

At the Far Eastern University of Vladivostok, I studied for four years to gain a Batchelor's Degree in English and Mandarin Chinese, spending some time in China before moving to the UK in 2004. I lived in London for ten years, working in the heart of the city as an education administrator at the world-famous St Bart's Hospital, then eventually moved out to the Cotswolds. During my time in the UK I have gained various qualifications in subjects such as project management and teaching and additionally studied Spanish.

Teaching Experience:

For the past five years I have been working in the classroom as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham, preparing adult students from across the globe to pass ELTS and PET/KET/FCE exams. At the same time, I have been teaching Russian to several individual students as a private tutor, which has included students gaining GCSEs and A-Levels in the language.

Tutoring Approach:

My personal experiences have given me a deep appreciation of the challenges that learning new languages present. This understanding of the learning process and the differences between language groups, combined with my passion for helping others to communicate more effectively across cultural and linguistic divides, led me to find my personal niche as a private tutor teaching Russian language skills to English-speaking students.
In my lessons I use a mixture of resources including text books, videos, works of literature and real life materials (eg. newspapers articles, advertisements and restaurant menus). You will not only learn the Russian language, but hopefully also something about the culture and history of Russian people.


Whether you are looking to learn Russian for professional or personal reasons, I will help you to become confident reading, writing and conversing, at a pace to suit you and I am very happy to tailor your course to meet your personal learning style and desired outcome.
