Niall - Bearsden tutor
Information About Niall:
Personal Description:
I am a student who has just recently completed secondary school where I gained all As at Higher and Advanced Higher level as well as receiving the Dux award. I hope to use my recent first hand experience of the stresses of the exams I tutor to reassure and support my pupils. I am a second year student studying Mathematics and Geography at the University of Glasgow and can use my flexible hours to your advantage. I have a PVG disclosure to work with children and am first aid trained. I have a friendly approach and enthusiasm for all the subjects I tutor and hope I can engage my pupils as these subjects can at times seem dull and unengaging.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored over twenty local secondary school pupils at all levels over the past three years on a one to one basis all of which achieved significant improvement in their grades in final exams or prelims (references available). I also spent much 6th year helping younger pupils in my secondary school who were struggling grasp basic mathematical concepts and helping teach Geography classes. I have also been a first year buddy and anti-bullying councillor.
Tutoring Approach:
I understand that every pupil will be different and I will highlight early on the areas of the subject that need improving through regular testing of the material covered. This allows pupils to become familiar with the stresses and techniques of exams and highlights any lack of understanding. Past papers are the key to success at any level and I will incorporate them into every lesson building up the pupil's confidence and familiarising them with the exam. I am flexible and cater to each individual's needs. I also believe in many cases pupils struggle as a result of over complication of simple concepts. I will teach at the pupil's own pace in a way that is easy to understand and set achievable targets. I have a relaxed and informal approach to my lessons as these subjects can be dull and boring causing pupils to loose focus and enthusiasm if taught incorrectly. I can travel to your home or meet in libraries and other public buildings in the local area if required. I will also provide additional support out-with my lessons through social networks, texts and skype at any time of day free of charge as and when required.
I also will give discounts to block bookings and £10 off to anyone who wishes a two hour block lesson.
