Information About Amanda:

Personal Description:

I am an experienced tutor and have worked in the Further Education (FE) sector since 2007.

I am married with 2 children - one at primary school and one at secondary school (moving into GCSE year). I have a wide range of interests, including the theatre,gardening, swimming, walking and reading.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked for Wiltshire College since 2007, teaching Skills for Life, Functional Skills (English) and English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL). I currently work part-time.

I have worked with students ranging in: age (16+ to 65), ability (levels up to and including GCSE equivalence), educational experience, nationality and cultural background.

I am also a qualified teaching assistant and have experience supporting primary age children (in a voluntary capacity).

Tutoring Approach:

My style is relaxed and informal, and my approach is to offer students a personalised learning experience, which addresses individual needs and aspirations. I aim to work in partnership with my students and am open to supporting specific areas of interest or need (e.g. work-related topics, using ICT or engaging in conversational English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)).

I use a range of learning resources, including the Internet, and provide additional handouts on the topics covered, which can be used to practise skills outside of tutored sessions, should students wish to do so. I feel that I am, by nature, supportive, encouraging and patient, and my aim is to provide a fun, friendly environment where students can progress and achieve at their own pace.
