Personal Description:

I'm a 27 years old french native speaker and I've been living for two years now in London. My degree (from a french university) was in Anglo-Saxon Literature and Civilisation with a major in translation. However, I recently realised how much I loved teaching and decided to start my career teaching my beautiful language.

Teaching Experience:

I came to London after I graduated and worked as a french language assistant in South Croydon for two years.
I worked with small groups or one-on-one and with different age groups. I'm familiar with GCSE, AS, A2 and IB.
I recently started working with younger pupils as well who are just starting French (Years 5, 6 & 7)

Tutoring Approach:

First of all, I like to create a relaxed atmosphere during my lessons as I don't want my pupils to be dreading their time with me. I try to make it as fun as possible however, I expect my students to take their "job" of being a student seriously.
When learning a language, there will always be some bits and pieces which are just plain annoying and I really try to make my pupils understand that once they get over those annoying parts, they can then improve considerably and, who knows, even enjoy it!

I usually bring my laptop to my lessons as I like to use PowerPoint, watch short videos, listen to audio files and play little games. I do my best to make the lesson as interactive as possible. I find it essential for students to write down vocab lists, grammar rules and so on. I usually give a very short test at the beginning of a new lesson to see what they remembered.

Once I get to know my pupils, I try to incorporate their likes and dislikes (!) in my lessons. I will always listen to what they have to say and will be open to any suggestions they might have.

I believe one-on-one lessons are a great opportunity for a pupil, whatever his level is, to thrive and improve. I respect every single one of my students and expect them to show me the same respect.
