Personal Description:

I have been teaching in London schools for the last twenty years. I also work part time with an Education Centre and secondary school teachers to produce educational materials for the current national curriculum guidelines. My student centered approach strengthens academic weaknesses and ensures students are able to develop excellent skills in English Language and Literature, History, Sociology and Biology. My students have always achieved grade A and A*. I am able to encourage to both excel in their studies as well as enjoy the process. I am a British Asian woman and 47 years old and am able to travel to the pupils home.

Teaching Experience:

Using a student centred approach I work towards developing the full academic potential of the student. With the use of materials and methods which engage the student, I aim to strengthen the students understanding of their subject but also to develop the skills for higher level learning of applying the material to exam papers to achieve a high standard in their exams and assessments. I emphasise the importance of producing written work, engaging with academic materials, and applying academic knowledge/theory/ concepts to real situations. am able to keep the student focused and interested in what they are learning and create a stress free approach towards achieving high results. I am also conscious of the need for practical advice and support to reduce stress in the struggle to achieving high grades in exams. I am able to build on a students weak areas, draw on the students areas of interest in the discipline, provide a structure programme of work leading up to deadlines, give feedback on how to improve course / school work.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is always ensure the student aspires to the highest grade in their subject I aim to address the students weak areas and sharpen their ability to apply what they have learnt to exam type questions in exam conditions. I time the work, provide homework activities and ensure students develop the skills to produce their best work in timed conditions. I always teach students to understand what the themes and concepts and then apply them as well as remember facts.
