Personal Description:

I am a secondary school mathematics teacher in Ipswich. I am educated to masters level.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified secondary school mathematics teacher who tutors privately (and I teach a small number of hours in a school). I teach pupils of all abilities from years 5 up to A' Level. Lessons may be on a one-to-one basis or for small groups. I offer a complete service, supporting students through the national curriculum, addressing their needs with free regular assessments, tried and tested easy methods, homework and where appropriate past papers. I have the best job in the world, seeing students learning through easy methods and making great leaps in progress.

Last year saw the most amazing results for my students. The majority of GCSE students achieved either A or A* grades (I am particularly proud of one student who after receiving a predicted grade F from their school, went on to achieve an A grade). Year 5 and 6 level boosting (for SATs or 11+ entrance examinations) saw most students accelerate through a complete level (normally taking over a year in school) in two to three months of weekly lessons. Anything is possible...

I am typically full year on year for regular one-to-one tuition but do operate a waiting list outside of this (currently 2 years for one-to-one tuition). I am happy to provide adhoc one-to-one tuition through the holidays (half terms, Easter, summer holiday times) and I run a weekly Maths School (for years 4 to 13) which operates in the same way as my one-to-one sessions where there are a small number of places available.

I offer weekly 11 plus sessions (covering Maths, English and Reasoning) alongside an English subject specialist, this is for current year 4 or 5 students who are hoping to gain places in private or the local Colchester Grammar Schools. Places for this service are on a first come first served basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy teaching students of all levels. I use a variety of teaching approaches to try and make learning maths fun.
