Personal Description:

I graduated from The University of Nottingham last year where I studied French and Hispanic Studies. Since leaving university I have been travelling in South America where I perfected my Spanish skills, through getting involved with various volunteer organisations and conversing with the locals.
I am looking to start a PGCE course next September as I am very keen to start a teaching career. I love French and Spanish and think that it is important for children (and adults) to embrace languages and start thinking of them as an essential part of life!

Teaching Experience:

Home tutoring in Spain for both students and business people who wanted to improve on their english.
Home tutoring in my local area for children of all ages in both French and Spanish.
Working in a children's centre in Colombia where I was responsible for a class of 15 children. This role was particularly challenging as it was vital to maintain control within the classroom at the same time as making English fun!

Tutoring Approach:

I already have experience in home tutoring, both in my local area and in Spain during my year abroad. I pride myself on using innovative and effective methods to achieve excellent results, and with the younger children, I have always managed to keep them focused on the tasks in hand through applying a more interactive approach. Through past experience I have found that younger children work well with pictures and colour, and they especially learn at a much faster rate when they can relate to things. For example, if the class is about 'family', it can be fun for the child to draw their own family and then label it with the appropriate vocabulary.
With regards to older children and adults at both university level and beyond, I adapt to specific needs and give lessons according to those needs, whether the focus is on grammar or reading for example.
In any case, I strive to give professional, interesting and helpful classes and I have always had great feedback from students I have taught in the past.

• Joint Honours French and Hispanic Studies (BA)
• A Levels French (A) and Spanish (A)
