Joanne - Loughborough tutor

Information About Joanne:

Personal Description:

I am a Ph.D researcher at Loughborough University in the areas of sociology and gender. After A Levels in History, English Literature and Physics, I went on to do a degree in American history at the University of Warwick, followed by a period of full time work in administration and an MA in Gender Studies at the University of Sussex. My main interests in Literature are 20th century American and British literature and 19th century romance; in History I am interested in colonial and modern history of the Americas, 19th and 20th century British history, revolutions Elizabethan England and the English Civil War period, however I have experience of tutoring a broad range of topics.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor since 2005 and have tutored five students in this time, in either History or English. All saw an improvement in their grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer weekly or fortnightly 2 hour meetings to cover themes in the work, discuss homework and coursework assignments and revision techniques, where discussion and exploration of key concepts predominates.
