Personal Description:
I have just finished school and I am currently on a gap year before starting university in 2009. I am a keen scientist and hope tutoring will be an opportunity to help other students to develop an interest in maths and science as well as helping them to improve their understanding and broaden their knowledge.
Teaching Experience:
As a sixth former I tutored two year 9 students in preparation for their maths' SATS. This involved meeting up with them once a week to go through their homework and find any areas of difficulty.
I frequently babysit for children ranging in age from 2 years to 12 years so have experience of gaining respect from this age group.
Tutoring Approach:
I pride myself in my ability to listen and communicate well. I'm a patient person and willing to go back to basics in order to help the student grasp underlying concepts. I also believe in the importance of asking questions to ensure the student has understood.
With such a rigorous curriculum taught at school, I hope to provide tutoring sessions that are informal enough for the pupil to ask questions that they may not have the opportunity to in the classroom.
