Felicity - Brighton tutor

Information About Felicity:

Personal Description:

I've always enjoyed the arts, which is why I took a degree which covers English and Creative Arts. Currently, I belong to a drama improvisation group which keeps me on my toes and keeps the creative muscles exercised. This comming school year I have one A level student so have room for another two a week.

Teaching Experience:

My degree in English and Creative Arts, involved teaching drama at key stage 3 level, and writing a play.

My teaching experience covers private tutoring of GCSE and A level - English, English Literature and media studies. My pupils have been mainly teenage boys, some of whom started off rather resistant to their parents' idea of bringing in a tutor, but who all ended up with excellent results.

I have taught English as a foreign language to classes of adults in a language school, and have also given individual lessons.

Separately to private tutoring, I have devised and run a drama course for adults.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach tends to be informal. I encourage pupils to step up their level of organisation. Meanwhile, I think it's very important that the pupil looks forward to their sessions. I tend not to set homework, but will support the pupil to keep track of homework set by their school. I also encourage the pupil to be aware of grammar and those little things that make a good impression on the examiner. Ultimately, my goal would be that the pupil learns how to approach their studies in a focused and self disciplined way with skills that are transferable across the curriculam and indeed other areas of their life.
