Personal Description:
I have been a tutor for 5 years and have tutored a range of students, many of whom have not spoken English prior to coming to me.
I July 2011 I graduated in Law from the University of Exeter in the South West of England. I gained a 2.1(hons) degree.
I am currently undertaking the Bar Professional Training Course at Nottingham Law School and will reside in Nottingham during term time and North Staffordshire outside of term time.
In my spare time I teach several students in the subjects of English, Maths, Science, German and Law and I also enjoy playing the clarinet, flute and piano.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored several children up to age 16, one of whom spoke no English prior to my tutoring. Currently I tutor several primary school aged pupils whom I will guide through SATs tests and entrance examinations over the next year.
I am confident teaching those of all ages and tailor my lessons to the individual's needs, making lessons fun and varied. I encourage my students to ask questions, and much of my teaching is based on problem solving so that the student is constantly using and applying their knowledge and skills.
Tutoring Approach:
It is important that each individual develops a method that is suited to them. This sometimes entails using unconventional methods to come to a conclusion. I work individually with each of my clients and gain an understanding of their particular interests and the way in which they work, and adapt my approach accordingly. I feel that a hands on approach is essential, and therefore the tutee will constantly be trying out methods to reach their solution. I find that students learn best through an enjoyable and sensitive approach. I vary my lessons whilst covering the appropriate material and tailor my lessons to the individual's needs.
