Information About Sophie:
Personal Description:
I am a Graduate in English Language and Film Studies from the University of Sussex. I also have experience of live theatre and Drama and Theatre Studies. I continue to undertake personal research in my fields and intend to progress to postgraduate study in the next academic year.
Teaching Experience:
I have some experience in post-16 education, having worked as a Facilitator and Teaching Assistant before attending university and have also mentored many peers at school and college.
Tutoring Approach:
I think the most important factor in academic success is interest in what is being studied. I will encourage the student to find ways to relate the subject to their interests.
Discussion and debate will form the basis in both generating this interest and boosting the student's confidence in their own capabilities.
Positive encouragement is far more effective than criticism.

- BA English Language and Film Studies from the University of Sussex
- Excellent A-Levels in English Langauge, Film Studies and Media Studies (also Performance Studies and Drama and Theatre Studies)
- Experience as a Facilitator and Teaching Assistant for Visual Arts and Media (including Film, Media, Photography, Art Design) at leading Sixth Form College
- Excellent GCSEs and GNVQ ICT
