Personal Description:
A hard working, highly motivated, computer literate teacher with proven skills at management level in both the private and public sector - especially in the teaching profession. Excellent communication skills, and able to maintain a positive and flexible approach to work.
Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified and experienced teacher who has taught for many years. I believe that innovation and change are important for all environments but the implementation is something that needs a belief in collegiality, this will go a long way towards engendering positive change.
As a Business Studies and ICT teacher, I teach on a whole class basis and I teach in small groups in order to cater for the educational needs of my students. My experience and methodology of always expecting the best from my students and instilling in high levels of self esteem puts them on a good footing to adapt to all conditions. Flexibility as a teacher as well as the ability to teach different areas of the curriculum is extremely important.
As an ICT teacher and firmly believe in the importance of new technology and its positive effects on student learning in a practical way. The acquisition of ICT skills is an extremely important area that needs constant attention. The growth of the Internet requires that teachers must be able to teach this area in an innovative and exciting way. As head of department, I was successfully able to introduce ICT into a school and develop resources in this area.
With accounting teaching it is imperative that students are able to appreciate the various skills and areas that they must deal with in terms of double entry, financial accounts, etc. I have experienced that by allowing students to research and analyse these topics in an actual setting allows them to appreciate the subject in an academic but practical manner and this further facilities learning.
My experience as a special needs (SEN) teacher where I worked in a Centre with children who had Autistic, Dyslexic and Moderate Learning difficulties has enabled me to use a variety of teaching techniques and this has helped me to understand that all students learn in different ways and rates. This understanding is vital with dealing with students of differentiated ability.
