Personal Description:

I am a lively and experienced French and Spanish teacher who has worked in the UK, France and New Zealand.

I hold a Masters in Engineering degree from the University of Cambridge 2(i) and did my formal teacher training "on the job" by the Graduate Teacher programme route, gaining my Qualified Teacher Status in 2006. I have lived and worked in France and speak fluent French, and also Spanish.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching in secondary schools for 7 years and have taught boys, girls and mixed classes and have a variety of techniques to motivate and stimulate most learners. The majority of my teaching has been at Highgate School in London (an HMC school) where I have guided many students to top grades at GCSE, AS and A-Level. My speciality is with the learner who is struggling with confidence or ability to achieve their goal of an A*-B grade.
I am currently teaching in a private school in Oxfordshire and so have up to date knowledge of current GCSE and A-level courses.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important that the tutorials suit the learner and as such I like to plan a few goals with the student (and parent if applicable). In some cases it is useful to concentrate on day to day struggles with classwork; in many others it is good to concentrate on specific goals, usually related to an examination specification.

I truly believe that a student learns best when learning is fun! I have a range of games and methods from which I select to suit the student. Some students learn better in a pair and joint tutorials with friends can be agreed by arrangement.
