Personal Description:
I am an English graduate (honours degree from Exeter University) with a passion for poetry and literature and a long and distinguished career in journalism. I have worked as a reporter on daily newspapers and as a features writer for monthly business and women's magazines including Management Today and Cosmopolitan, and am currently a communications consultant for major companies including Shell International. I am also a qualified Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) teacher.
Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced coach and TEFL teacher and have also been responsible for mentoring and developing individuals' writing careers within organisations.
Tutoring Approach:
My aim is to inspire my tutees with a passion for their subject - this is not about ticky boxes! I use each assignment not just to explore and learn about the specific topic under investigation, whether it's 'unravelling' the meaning within a poem or preparing an article for a magazine or newspaper, but to improve the tutee's skills in researching and learning for themselves.
