Personal Description:

Originally from Manchester, I am an Oxford graduate with a First Class English degree. I am able to help students with literacy from the lowest to the very highest level, and am happy to help prospective Oxbridge students with their applications and preparation. I have also had experience as a singing teacher to both groups and individuals, from ages 6 to 60. My naturally outgoing and professional personality makes me an ideal tutor for those looking to excel, as well as those looking for extra support. I can help students looking for immediate exam success, as well as teach lasting study skills and methods that have helped me achieve.

Teaching Experience:

I have had experience preparing music lessons for groups of students at Key Stage 3 level, as well as leading an adult singing group. I have also privately assisted students with their work, particularly English A level candidates. This last academic year I taught History and English at Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS and A level. My last set of students all achieved their target grades in their exams, all improving on their projected results by at least one grade.

Tutoring Approach:

I have often found that the energy, enthusiasm and patience given by a teacher is reflected in the achievements of the student. As a trained actress, I have extremely good people skills, and am capable of drawing out the best in my students. While I very much hope to build an excellent relationship with those I teach over a period of time, I am also skilled in short-term exam preparation and revision. The way in which Oxford students work has given me ample personal experience in working to a tight schedule and making best use of knowledge for exam purposes.
