I am currently a lecturer on the BSc Psychology and Language science degree at University College London and a psychology examiner for AQA. Prior to this, I was Head of Psychology at a secondary school where I taught the AQA A-level psychology specification. I also introduced and taught Sociology A-level. I graduated in 2003 with a degree in Psychology from Durham University (First Class Honours) and have since completed a Masters degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology at The University of London, Birkbeck College and a PhD in Psychology at The University of London, Goldsmiths College.

Teaching Experience:
I have coordinated modules in developmental psychology and lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have also taught A level psychology for over 10-years and sociology for 2-years. I have been an examiner and Team Leader for AQA Psychology for the past decade. I have tutored students preparing to sit both OCR and AQA A-level exams. I also have some experience supervising students preparing to take IB Psychology.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is very much student-centred and I adapt my teaching style to the students in front of me. I like to present an idea/argument/concept and then allow my students the time they need to independently process and grasp the concept before asking them to explain it back to me using their own words. Once I am confident that my student has understood the concept we can then work through the application of this knowledge to practical exam-style questions to consolidate the knowledge and sharpen exam technique.

Hello, I live in Sunderland. I have a B A (Hons) degree and a Certificate in Education specialising in Maths and English and I have also attended relevant courses (for example in Dyslexia Awareness) and have a Counselling certificate.

Teaching Experience:

GCSE's

Jack's mock results were an E in English Language as well as a D in literature and he wanted to do Economics A level which required a B grade in his final GCSE. Jack had two hours of tuition per week from January to May. He enjoyed going (this surprised me as he hated English before the sessions) and had a new found likeness for literacy. He received a B in both language and literature and can now do A level economics. Jack related very well to David- this made learning easier for Jack and he obtained the grades he needed. His teachers at school noticed a marked improvement in his work when he was having tuition.

Oliver was falling behind in Math's and English. I am very happy to say that his confidence and his ability to retain what David teaches him has improved greatly. His teachers at school have also commented on his marked improvement and he now feels a sense of achievement in everything he does- he also speaks of making David proud. David was/is exactly what I was looking for. Oliver doesn't seem to think about his lesson as lesson, he genuinely enjoys spending Saturday mornings at David's as he now really wants to improve himself! Wow!!!

I have a passion for my degree and I think that the joy of physical science problem solving is one that can be easily lost in a school environment. For older students, however, I do not want to undermine the importance of being properly prepared for public examinations. The beauty of maths and physics is that the amount of rote learning is much less than other subjects and practice problem solving and understanding concepts is the key to success, this provides much more engaging revision. Although if you are struggling with teaching yourself a new topic or just didn't find that you 'got it' in class, it can be incredibly demoralising. This is where a second explanation or some targeted understanding can help out. moreover, with regular meetings, we can increase the efficiency of your study and I can teach you some tips on self-assessment and identifying in what manner you can help yourself, which is a vital skill the higher up the educational ladder you climb.

For younger students, my approach is to build a strong foundation of the basic skills whilst exploring more intricate concepts in a guided but ambitious manner. I believe that many students are capable of going far beyond the scope of their syllabuses, with the right guidance and encouragement.

I am a medical student studying in the United Kingdom. I achieved the top grades in my Biology, Chemistry and Law A-levels, and I have a proficient understanding of the A-level curriculum and teaching. I am now tutoring A-level students alongside studying my medical degree, and I am available for 1:1 teaching sessions for A-level students (year 1 or year 2).

Teaching Experience:
I have taught other students biology, chemistry and law throughout my own studying of those subjects at A-level. Since starting at medical school, I have began tutoring students online for their A-levels. The students of mine who I assisted during A-levels have gone on to achieve top grades, and those that did not achieve the highest grades boosted theirs by at least 2 (e.g. E grade to C grade, or C grade to A grade). In addition to this, I was a member of the Medical Leadership Programme, where I was taught key teaching and professional skills that support me in my role as a tutor.

My approach to tutoring is student-led, meaning that you tell me what you would like help with and I will then do that. We can set goals together for what you would like to achieve (e.g. do you want to boost your grades, or improve your question answering techniques? etc). I can help you learn course content or gain further understanding of the topics if you are aiming for higher grades. I can assist you to master exam technique and understanding different question types & marking criteria. I have been a teacher and mentor for 23 years, I have learnt how to stay calm when stakes are high by experience working with vulnerable collectives and in difficult situations, and trained in Verbal Self Defense and in Verbal Aikido (TM), becoming an Advanced Practitioner.

Now I am sharing many years of experience in learning and teaching how to have better conversations and make your voice be heard, so you can achieve better communication in less time!

I am native Spanish and can teach conversational, advanced and everyday holiday Spanish online.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught in non formal education since 1997 a variety of disciplines starting with music. I have written in books and articles about education in my native country (Un Angulo Me Basta, Editorial Tres Hermanas) and I am a keen teacher and trainer in verbal self defense.
