My teaching has reading and listening at it's heart. The best thing I have done since coming to London is open my ears to all the styles I didn't like, listen over and over, until they started to grow on me! Music is a cultural and historical lesson as well, it's interesting to see where the popular styles of today came from! Reading will just make you more employable as all the session, musical theatre and holiday camp drummers will tell you! I use software such as Noteflight which allows me to playback scores, making sight reading an easier and more enjoyable process, and meaning I can share scores with students via email. Each student is also given a video recording of what we studied in the lesson, which is a very valuable resource, something they can take away from each lesson, and makes remembering what we learned much easier!

I come from a family where music is extremely important. At school, my first band was a rock covers band where my brother played bass. We played regularly in pubs in Dorset, (you may have heard of the Teddy Rocks festival, we played in the very first festival and have played with my band Last Resort ever since). As part of a distance-learning Masters degree in association with FUNIBER and the Universidad de León, I carried out an ethnographic action research project using a democratic approach called Community Language Learning. In this approach there is no syllabus or textbook to follow. It is the learners themselves who determine the content by means of meaningful conversations.
It incorporates translation, transcription and recording techniques.

When I am not working I love volunteering, practising ice skating or track cycling with my daughter and also growing an edible garden !

Teaching Experience:
I was born in Madrid where I trained as a primary teacher and classical musician (cello and chamber music).

I worked in Escuelas de Musica in the outskirts of Madrid which are inclusive socially-minded music schools where I taught cello lessons and support the development of the String Department by assisting during orchestra rehearsals. Both adults and children of all ages are welcome to take lessons.

Shortly after moving to the UK I started a part time job teaching Music to 5-7 yo children at the Rowans Prep school in Wimbledon alongside studying a Mater's and working in Adult education- I carried out a 2-year ethnographic action research project at St Luke's centre in Islinghton.

I then applied to a position in Esadst London and started working for Children's language services teaching at several primary schools in Tower Hamlets. My roles were to deliver the MFL primary curriculum; coordinate the implementation of new initiatives in schools ie use of the European Portfolio for language Learning which was being developed between the Council and universities, provide class teachers with CPD training; undertake tasks such as EAL First Language assessments.

After taking maternative leave I trained to become an online tutor and worked part- time for Own Tutors, Clapham.

In 2019 I founded a learning community Metaforlearning Cic where I run Self-Manage Learning programmes for young people.

Hello there. I am an experienced Latin tutor and am currently completing my PhD in Classics at the University of Edinburgh (2013-2017). I have an honours degree from University College Dublin (2008-2012) and a Masters in Classics from Trinity College Dublin (2012-2013).

I have much experience teaching Latin. I taught Latin to two undergraduate classes at the University of Edinburgh in 2015-2016. I specialise in Biology, Geography and Chemistry. I have worked at AkzoNobel as an environmental data scientist and my Master's degree at Cambridge has focussed on Climatology.

I tutor A level, GCSE and secondary level Biology, Chemistry and Geography.
I am determined to help you to achieve or exceed your target grades. I am quite flexible in terms of when I am able to tutor.
I know the importance of sticking to the syllabus and tailoring lessons to fulfil the specific requirements of students, in order to ensure you are fully prepared for exams and can avoid the stress that often accompanies GCSEs and A Levels.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored for five years in Biology, Chemistry and Geography. I have recently completed an Master's degree at Cambridge University and hold a First Class degree in Natural Sciences from Durham University, specialising in Biology, Biochemistry and Geography.
I achieved straight A* grades at A Level in Geography, Biology and Chemistry. I also achieved an A* in a Geography and Science - based EPQ. At GCSE I received 9 A* grades and 1 A grade.
I have enjoyed tutoring younger students and aiding their progress towards achieving higher grades, including via online lessons.

Tutoring Approach:
I will tailor the lessons to meet the requirements of the student. My lessons are productive, and often focus on structuring answers and exam technique. I will discuss techniques to ensure the points on the mark scheme are met and the ways in which to achieve top marks. I can also teach the content of the syllabus if that is what's required.
I can also give advice on how to ensure high grades for the EPQ and how to write the perfect academic personal statement.
