I begin by assessing the pupils strengths and weaknesses and then plan lessons to suit the individuals needs. I also offer a fast-track Japanese language course - the methodology I was trained with at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. It is a comprehensive course and you build up the skills in all areas of the language - starting with speaking and listening, then followed by reading and writing. A student's personal goals are always at the centre of their development and I like to approach tutoring on an individual basis, as, particularly with music, every student learns in a way unique to them. The first lesson is generally spent getting to know students (and vice versa), understanding the approaches that work best for them and building a much needed rapport.
