I think that there is a lot of importance in learning 'discovery' which is where the pupil is not spoon-fed information, but rather encouraged to try and work out patterns in the language e.g. grammar. I did Spanish Studies as a degree in Huelva (near Seville), and later enrolled in an MA for Spanish Teaching as a Foreign Language in my home town, Granada. I then moved to the UK to work as an Assistant Teacher of Spanish in London, which led me to taking the PGCE course and acquiring Qualified Teacher Status. I am a PhD candidate at Cardiff University, where I research contemporary forms of subtitling. I have a Master's Degree in Translation Studies - for which I received a high Distinction and Best Postgraduate Dissertation - and a Bachelor's Degree in French and Spanish - for which I was awarded First-class Honours and an Excellence Scholarship. I have amassed a broad range of teaching and coaching experiences in recent years. These include, most recently, preparing and delivering seminars on Spanish and French language, translation, and culture to undergraduate students at Cardiff University.
