Hello! I am 47 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 20 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching in secondary school as a Science and Spanish teacher, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America. In England, I have been teaching this language since 2016. I have been working with different ages (from 2 to 80 years old) and different levels - face to face and online lessons- Also I have been working as a Spanish Language assistant, helping students to be confident and ready to pass their Spanish Exams (GCSE and A Levels).

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that to learn a second language we have to practice constantly so in my lessons, I speak in Spanish (90%) and my students have to speak as well. I work with grammar, videos and short texts to improve all the skills.
I really consider that teaching a language does not just mean teaching a grammar or phonetics. It also means teaching Spanish culture. For this reason, you will learn more about traditions, foods, etc from different Spanish speaking countries.

My lessons are different depend on my students, their levels, their ages and needs. I create my own materials and I use pictures, books or websites from other tutoring.

- with kids, I love using too many games, stories, cards, crafts and songs. They really learn a lot with this methodology.
- with young students, depend on their needs, we can work with a book plus some extra activities and videos to make the lesson more fun and improve skills.

Personal Description:
Since completing my degree, earning a First in Linguistics and Spanish from St. Catherine's College, Oxford, tutoring has become the mainstay of my work. I regularly attend Oxbridge admissions-focussed events for both schools and the general public, as an experienced mock interviewer, seminar leader, and test coach. My speciality is Spanish, though I always hope for aspiring Linguistics students! Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, cooking, and snooker (even though I'm hopeless at it).

When tutoring, I do not use the word "lesson"; that's a poor description of the dynamic. Students have a goal, and it is the task of both me and a student to work towards that goal. I have a very informal style in the session, but I hope to back this up with good communication and organisation behind the scenes.

I have thousands of hours ' experience under my belt tutoring Primary, KS3, GCSE, AS, A LEVEL, IGCSE and casual learners …specially in Spanish but I have a lot of experience teaching Latin, French and English as a Foreign Language too. Every experience has helped me to become proficient as a linguist. I Have turned many Ds and Cs into A and A*, this proves my ability to boosting not just results but also students' confidence.
I tailor the lessons depending on the student's neccesities and learning style, including a lot of differentiation and new challenges. I know excellent exam techniques that help student to become confident on how to face the exam to be able to aim for the highest marks in GCSE and Alevel. Tutoring Approach:
I am a Languages lover and I try to pass this on at all levels. Students often seem to lack self-confidence in their approach to languages, and this is somewhere I am able to help.
I tailor the lessons according to the student needs and teach depending of the person learning style. I have plenty of experience differentiating the content to enable students to access it. I have also experience teaching students with any special educational needs such dyslexia or any other cognitive need.
With the recent major overhaul of GCSEs and A Levels, it is a great challenge for schools to cover all the course content in class and prepare students thoroughly for the external examinations. With large class sizes and often a lack of individual speaking practice, pupils can lack confidence and not achieve their full potential in their exams or lessons in school. This overwhelm students and could stress them as they may find they have not had enough time or opportunities to prepare themselves for the Speaking Exam or writing skills.
It is, essential to review past papers and study the specific requirements for a given exam; however, this is not everything, and I believe that there are some more general principles which help across the board. For example, writing techniques, translation, and of course motivation and focusing in grammar will help to achieve the best possible outcome.
Regarding A level, I know perfectly how to help students to obtain the highest scores in their exams as I am an external examiner who marks A level exam for Edexcel and AQA.I have attended numerous workshops for films and literature, besides my knowledge obtained from my Journalism degree and Spanish schooling.
