Personal Description:
Hello! I am 47 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 20 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching in secondary school as a Science and Spanish teacher, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America. I now feel very settled here in England and am raising two beautiful daughters, as well as a menagerie of animals, including chickens, guinea pigs, and a dog.

I have an up to date enhanced DBS.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my teaching degree in 2007 at Canterbury Christ Church University. I trained in two very different types of schools.. a private Catholic boarding school and a comprehensive high school, which gave me the experience to engage students of different abilities and backgrounds. I also received training to teach EAL and SEN students. My teaching qualification is in Science, but as a fluent Spanish speaker I also teach Spanish to both adults and children in schools and private tuition. I teach Maths, Biology, and Spanish up to GCSE level. For 8 years, I worked for a private company teaching young people in residential care, and after that at a private school for girls. I have since decided to leave mainstream, and now alongside my private tuition, I teach at a democratic learning community where yoga and meditation are taught hand-in-hand with a topic based curriculum. My teaching experiences are very diverse, and I love having had influence from a variety of styles of education, but what gives me most satisfaction is working with students 1-1.

Tutoring Approach:

Students, young and old, don't like subjects they don't think they can succeed in. My approach is to break down material, relate it to everyday life and interests, and positively reinforce all the way to build up confidence. I am stubborn (!) and I don't give up until it's mastered.

Personal Description:
Hi I am Laura, It is great you have decided to study or practice this beautiful language, I am here to help you at your own pace to the rhythm of your times, contact me you won't regret! I am Spanish-Argentinian, I have studied Tourism Management and Secretarial courses. In 2006 while I was living in United States I have studied English as a Second Language at the University of Louisville.
I came to England by April 2010 for professional reasons and to continue my studies in the Tourism industry. I live in Bournemouth at the moment.

In addition, I have worked for several companies in Argentina, United States, England and recently in Israel where I have been traveling and working, all this experience made me a very friendly and outgoing person with people all ages. I enjoy to help students to improve their Spanish skills. That is my goal.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Spanish as private tutor a year and a half in US teaching people from various nationalities.
Also, I have worked for a Spanish Institute assisting students in US as well .
Actually, I am helping students A-Level, GCSE from different sachool , casual learners, I had worked with adults students belong to a prestigious Languages Institute in Birmingham city centre as private tutor, university's students , and children 3 to 11 years old as well.

Tutoring Approach:

My students are more than happy because we speak during whole lesson time about different topics, and it is the way to improve them self. Tailored lessons according the student is the most important thing to take care about. I think that a good way to learn a language is with a friendly feedback between tutor and students . Try to make feel them comfortable . Focus the lessons in student's needs and interests. Personalize tools to apply with each student.

Ananda has tutored my son Myles for the past 2 years ahead of his IGCSE EDexcel exam in June 2023. Spanish was by far his weakest subject as school and he was struggling with motivation. He has a diagnosis of autism and ADHD. Ananda has consistently encouraged Myles, working alongside him at his pace and has given him a very thorough understanding of the language which he is now able to use with confidence. Her support has been invaluable, she has consistently been available for all the lessons and very flexible with any impromptu rescheduling. She has offered additional lessons in preparation ahead of specific exams such as the aural or listening papers. Today Myles has received a high Grade 8 in his exam, missing out on a 9 by only 1 mark. This seemed absolutely inconceivable at this point last year. Huge big thank you to Ananda - I cannot recommend her highly enough.

After my first year at Durham university receiving a 2:1 I wanted to improve my Spanish for second year and found Ananda.I cannot recommend her services enough! She personalised the lessons to my specific needs, particularly focusing on oral practice which I found the most challenging (scoring 66% in my first year). She not only improved my level of Spanish, but also increased my confidence with the language. Thanks to all her help and expertise I got a 1st in Spanish, scoring 74% in the oral exam and 75% in the written paper!

Ananda helped me to prepare for an interview for a job in Buenos Aires, after I had not spoken Spanish for about three years. She was helpful, thorough and really careful to tailor the session to my individual needs and to the job. We prepared for all kinds of questions they might ask and all areas I might need to be capable of discussing. I felt confident going into the interview and I got the job! She is a fantastic Spanish tutor and definitely could not have done it without her. Thanks!!

REFERENCE LETTER 1
Dear sir/madam,
Ananda has taught two of my daughters and is an outstanding teacher. She helped my eldest daughter achieve an A* in her Edexcel GCSE Spanish and hopefully will do the same with my middle daughter.
She has a lovely approach - very friendly, is easy to relate to and is thorough in her teaching. My middle daughter has already sat her IGCSE Spanish oral exam and said she felt very prepared by Ananda.
I have asked Ananda to tutor me to A level and also my youngest daughter in a year.
Without doubt I would recommend Ananda to any one wanting to get good results and having fun in the process.

Kind regards,
Sarah

REFERENCE LETTER 2
Dear Sir/Madam,
Ananda has been tutoring my 15 year old in AQUA GCSE Spanish and got the highest grade A* (9). My daughter is very proud and all the family really glad and grateful to Ananda. She is professional, flexible, creative and very pleasant. My daughter was looking forward to her lessons every week. Ananda has taken the time to find out my daughter's interests and helped Annie to learn real Spanish language.. She has also taken time to talk to me as the parent to find out my goals for my daughter. I would recommend Ananda as a Spanish tutor to everyone!

Kind regards
Maria

REFERENCE LETTER 3
Dear sir/madam,
Ananda taught my daughter Spanish for her A-levels. My daughter started her A-levels with grade D and finished it with grade A*. I think this says it all about Ananda's ability as a teacher to support her students and push them to achieve their potential.
Ananda is a very dedicated Spanish teacher to her students, explaining things in great depth and in a simple way which is easy to understand. She provides very useful resources and creates exercises which will help you improve your fluency. As well as being a great teacher, she will also endlessly support you through your journey, being a constant positive guide. Ananda is a great Spanish teacher. She is very dedicated and works so hard for her students. She helped my daughter to improve her Spanish enormously to the extend that her school teacher was referencing her as an exemplar student. Ananda also helped to boost my daughter's confidence and self-belief. I highly recommend Ananda and we will definitely miss her.

Best wishes,
May

I have worked in both mainstream and private schools tutoring one-to-one, small groups and full classes with students of different abilities in both secondary and primary school levels. I have also taught SEN students in groups and individually. I provided lessons of English and Spanish as Foreign Languages to organizations in South America and Ukraine.

SPANISH

I offer training in Spanish at different linguistic levels - from basic to most complicated grammar (university level) with plenty of conversational practice. Spanish is my natural language. I worked as a "Spanish into English" translator/interpreter for the Dep. of Science in South America and as a teacher in Extremadura in Spain. My knowledge of Spanish-Speaking culture will enrich our lessons in a way that you will be able to learn the most important shades of meanings as well as Spanish colloquial expressions. This would allow you to feel confident in Castellano and to avoid uncomfortable situations, while travelling to Spanish speaking countries.

SEN, SYNTHETIC PHONICS for READING and WRITING; ENGLISH as a FOREIGN LANGUAGE, RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN (native ability)

I also provide tuition in areas such as: Reading and Writing in English -Summer Holiday Practice, synthetic phonics (children 4+); Grammar, Conversation, Exam Preparation in English, Russian and Ukrainian as Foreign Languages.
I am an official Synthetic Phonics Trainer for Ukraine. I have run numerous language clubs in England and coordinated my own language school in Ukraine. I can help your child to significantly improve his reading and writing skills in English, using varied Phonics Schemes in a fun way. I teach blending and segmenting, reading practice, tricky words, dictations, reading for meaning, guided reading. I will assess your child according to the latest assessment criteria.

Summer Holiday Phonics help is available both in small groups and individually.

Trained at Kiev Linguistic University, Ukraine; Open University, Anglia Ruskin University, England; Javeriana University, Colombia - South America; Honours Degree in Linguistics; DELE Diploma of Spanish, Diploma in Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language and translation. CRB checked. References are available upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a flexible approach to teaching, depending on what the student hopes to achieve. I have always got on well with my students and try to make my lessons fun, friendly and as motivating as possible, involving techniques such as interactive communicative situations, games, quizzes, songs, reading and writing comprehensions, cultural enrichment, essay writing skills, etc. Before the course, I assess the students' needs and their levels; explain the scheme of work and discuss with parents their child's progress. Group lessons can be agreed at a cheaper price.

Personal Description:
I have a BA grade 2.1 obtained at University of Chester in English and a CELTA/ESOL teaching qualification from University of Cambridge. I am a bilingual speaker of Italian and Spanish. I have been teaching for five and half years in state schools, academies, summer camps for young learners of languages and private houses. There is nothing that gives me more satisfaction and sense of fulfillment than teaching languages. It is a fascinating experience to see students learning and progressing, and gaining confidence in expressing themselves in another language.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored and taught Italian, Spanish and English as a Foreign Language for more than 7 years in schools, academies, languages summer courses and private houses. I prepare GCSE/IGCSE/A-Level students for their examinations or coursework and speakers of other languages for ESOL/Trinity College examinations. I have also taught Spanish and Italian for business purposes in private companies and in one-to-one sessions. I can adapt my teaching resources to different teaching environments such as students' homes, my own home, clubs, conference rooms etc. I use IT such as PP presentation etc, and textbooks. I have created my own resources as well, in order to adapt to different needs and enhance students' level and abilities.
I can provide references( from head teachers, adult students, etc.) regarding the high standard of my teaching methods. Students have always attained high marks in their examinations after being tutored by me.

Tutoring Approach:

I can design and tailor my lessons plans following my personal syllabus- which include a range of activities that stimulate the different skills required when learning a foreign language, namely writing, reading, speaking and listening. I can target specific areas, if needed, such as pronunciation, use of language, grammar or reading.
I can create my own resources using the internet, textbooks and other sources of information. I usually take into consideration the different abilities of students in order to tailor my lessons and make them more effective and interesting.
My lessons are designed to motivate and encourage independent learning. I elicit from students as much knowledge as possible from previous learning in order to scaffold it with new notions and provide them with practical linguistic tools. I stimulate their productive skills, e.g. speaking and writing, by using visual cues or written prompts in order to give them suggestions and make them work independently. I use as much 'real life'material- Internet, DVDs, songs, extracts of conversations from foreign media, etc.- as possible. I tend to do this from an early stage of the learning experience in order to make the student aware that the language they are learning is a live and real one, spoken by millions of people overseas. When teaching English as a Foreign Language, I motivate students to practice English outside the lesson environment and provide them with practical speaking skills. All this, of course, alongside the academic preparation for their exams.
I am an approachable teacher, and I like to create a comfortable learning environment where the student can build up his/her confidence to use the foreign language and 'take the risk' to speak Italian, Spanish or English. A good teacher is the one who can guide the student without being too intrusive. In short, the teacher must be able to listen and interact with their students. Only in this way students can have a truly enjoyable and rewarding learning experience.

Personal Description:
I come from a very multilingual and multicultural background. Having grown up in Tanzania and now Kenya I have had the opportunity to go to a French School for 8 years, learning every subject in French. Additionally, my fluency for Italian has come from my parents who are both Italian, which this level of Italian increased during my time at Boarding school (GCSE and A level), similarly with French.

Furthermore, having gone to an International Boarding School I have profoundly learnt Spanish from the ages of 10-18.

Teaching Experience:

This past summer, I have been able to participte in Language Summer School at Stonyhurst College and I have been priveleged to be able to teach the kids developed and more intermediate levels of English along with native languages, which I am fluent in. This enabled me to communicate with children when they haven't understood words etc...

Similarly, when I was at school I used to help the younger kids with their revision for upcoming exams, and used to help them learn relevant content along with grammar and conjucations, which is extremelly important when it comes to understanding and pronouncing foreign words.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I will be patient as I know that languages are very hard to learn and therefore having patient is important to fostering an important positive mentality, which is also a key factor to being able to achieve the grades an individual is aiming for.
Additionally, pronounciation will be worked on as this is very important when taking speaking exams, and I feel like this is very overlooked amongst tutors and not taken seriously; when someone knows how to pronounce it will be easier to spell and remember key vocabulary.
Furthermore, one thing i learned at school was that doing past papers is the most important thing to get yourself used to examination strcutures and get you to really understand syllabus and contents of the subject you are studying.
However, even though these are all contributing factors to learning a subject, knowing how to revise is just as important, which is something I will also be teaching and helping them find what revision tactic is best for them.

Personal Description:
Hola/Bonjour/Hello!

My name is Ella and I am Head of Spanish in a leading Independent School in Cardiff.

I have taught both French and Spanish to A Level for 10 years, and have experience teaching WJEC, AQA and Edexcel specifications. I hold a BA (Hons) in French and Hispanic Studies from King's College London, for which I received a 2:1, an MA in Art History with a particular focus on Spanish Art History and socio-political artistic exchange, for which I received a Distinction, and I completed my NPQML qualification in 2021.

In my spare time, my passions are art, history, European cinema and keeping fit. I have also begun learning Arabic, Catalan and Mandarin myself!

Teaching Experience:

I received my PGCE in Spanish with Subsidiary French from King's College London, and have worked in both the independent and state sector in England and Wales. I assumed the role of Head of Department in my current school in 2024 after being the Spanish Subject Coordinator for 2 years prior, and have been Second in Department and Head of French in previous schools. Recently, I became an examiner for WJEC/Eduqas, and have marked for these exam boards. For the past two examination series, my results at both GCSE and A Level were 100% A-A*, proving my dedication to my pupils and an exceptional track record.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is always student-centred, and I like to establish a rapport with pupils which enables me to help them in a way which best matches their personality and needs. I like to flip the learning, enabling pupils to 'have a go' at particular activities or concepts first, before addressing any difficulties or misconceptions. This ensures that my support is always specifically targeted to the needs of the student.
