I am an MFL teacher with bags of enthusiasm and an immense passion for education and children. I currently work part-time in a secondary school in Surrey, and have previously in a Boys Grammar School in North Kent, as well as having enjoyed spells living in Quebec and Aix-en-Provence in the past. I have a life long interest in linguistics and studied this in depth as part of my English and Spanish degree at the university of Poitiers, as well as the Diploma in Translation.

I am often told that am kind and patient- I do believe these are necessary qualities as a tutor to create a trusting relationship with a young person.

Teaching Experience:
I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher (PGCE) with over 15 years' experience teaching French and Spanish in the UK, including extensive GCSE and A-Level preparation (including external candidates).

I specialise in helping students:

Tutoring Approach:
During my lessons, I focus on speaking in order to quickly improve Listening and Oral skills.. Initial assessment will highlight the student's strong and weak areas which I incorporate into my planning.

Progress will happen quickly as I know how to apply recognized teaching methods.

I have a particular interest in grammar and ensure that clear explanations are followed by independent practice.

I believe that learning needs to be achievable in order to increase confidence, this is especially true at the beginning of the tuition when I try to pitch the activities at the right level, before extending the student's further. .

I use zoom for online teaching, which enables me to share my screen, including for the purpose of watching videos or listening to extracts. After the lesson, I send the main exercise(s) completed by the student alongside useful annotations, which can be kept for future revision (screen images).

This is accompanied by a personalised report after each class including homework to consolidate any weak area highlighted during the lesson. This is very much appreciated by parents and students, creating a thread between lessons.
