I think that there is a lot of importance in learning 'discovery' which is where the pupil is not spoon-fed information, but rather encouraged to try and work out patterns in the language e.g. grammar. Studying French and Spanish at University College London gave me the incredible opportunity to live in Madrid for a year, where I became fluent in Spanish. Tutoring Approach:
I teach both in small groups and one-to-one depending on the individual requirements. My style varies depending on age and whether the student is studying for an exam. For those wishing to take the GCSE or other exams in Spanish, I will cover the syllabus of the individual's exam board: in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire this is currently AQA, whereas in Middlesex, where I used to teach, it is AEB. With adults, depending on the level and groups size (if teaching a group), I sometimes use the sort of techniques employed in teaching English as a Foreign Language.
In all cases I use the medium of Spanish, depending on the level, but where necessary will explain particular aspects of grammar in English.

I did Spanish Studies as a degree in Huelva (near Seville), and later enrolled in an MA for Spanish Teaching as a Foreign Language in my home town, Granada.
