In my role I had to make sure that I delivered my teaching to specific objectives, to deliver the best learning to the pupils. I identified clear teaching objectives and then set challenging, diverse expectations delivering individual teaching to the different levels of ability in the class, whether this being SEN pupils or very able pupils.

Learning a foreign language is a process that implies some mimicking, language awareness, practice on comprehension, expression and also creativity. I am a Spanish native speaker from Mexico. I have 9 years of experience teaching English and Spanish in Mexico and the UK. I am a qualified Spanish Teacher currently working in the Greater Manchester area.

Teaching Experience:
My most significant educational experience comes from teaching in an English School in Mexico, which was a rewarding experience. I was always extremely supportive with my students during the lessons and I consistently showed excellent communication and understanding skills. I helped pupils to improve their language skills through the implementation of varied activities and materials considering their individual needs. During this period of time, I worked with various groups of learners from ages 4-5 up to adults and occasionally worked with low-ability learners and some mild learning difficulties, which helped me to develop excellent classroom management and classroom organisation.

Further to this experience, I also periodically work as a private language tutor where I design and deliver bespoke courses or individual material to young or adult learners.

While studying at university I joined a nursery and primary level school where I worked with children from ages 5-11 teaching them English according to the national curriculum.

In 2018, I started volunteering at All Hallows R.C. High School supporting one of the Spanish teachers during their lessons. During this time I have had the opportunity to work with pupils from Year 7 up to Year 11, and learnt about the UK national curriculum.
A key part of my role is supporting the teacher with the management of pupil behaviour, helping them to reduce wasted time and enabling them to concentrate on delivering their class. Another part of my role is to ensure students work during class and understand the tasks assigned by the teacher. I normally sit next to pupils who struggle with Spanish so they do not feel left behind by the others. I patiently help them to complete their activities, motivate them and encourage them to study harder. Furthermore, I was assigned to support Year 11 students to help them reinforce their speaking, vocabulary and grammar skills in order to succeed in their GCSE Spanish exams.

I currently work as a Spanish teacher in a Secondary school in the Greater Manchester area.

My capacity to help pupils to face challenges and make them believe they can be successful no matter how difficult the situation is, as well as the ability to create positive and welcoming environments in a classroom and my constant need to share knowledge are the skills that have guided me into education. I usually do a combination of grammar and other skills during a lesson. I find online tutoring is an efficient way to teach. Student and tutor have to be very focused, and we need to have the lesson planned carefully to make sure we have access to documents, so no time is wasted finding materials or deciding what to do. I also set homework if parents want this, and it does help to maximise the lesson time.

Teaching Experience:
After my degree in French and Spanish, and PGCE, I went on to teach in a secondary school. After this I started out as a private tutor, working with students from a range of backgrounds and Amis. I have taught both French and Spanish from lower secondary to A Level, including board era and overseas students.

Hello, I'm Freya - I am a passionate and dedicated Modern Foreign Languages teacher with a PGCE (Distinction) in Spanish and French from the University of Oxford and an MA in Italian and Spanish from the University of St Andrews.

I have experience of learning multiple languages, which include Spanish, Italian, French, Mandarin Welsh, German and Cantonese - therefore I have acquired the necessary skills, techniques and methods required to learn and revise for a Modern Foreign Language and hope to pass this onto students.

My teaching background spans state secondary classrooms, private 1-to-1 tutoring, and international education across the UK, Europe, and Asia. Currently working as a Secondary MFL Teacher, I have extensive experience designing and delivering Spanish lessons from KS3 through KS5 and French at KS3. I have made a set of online flashcards for every GCSE module for students to learn as homework. I create model answers for the writing exams, and decode it with the students according to the mark scheme so that students see exactly what earns top marks.

At KS5, I put focus on language becoming a tool to analyse societal issues, culture, literature and film. I have created an in-depth study guide for Como agua para chocolate with a strict step-by-step approach to tackling a high-levelled critical analysis essay. I have been the A-Level speaking examiner for Spanish students in my school, so I am knowledgeable on the mark scheme and requirements for high grades.
