I completed Nuclear Power Engineering degree studies in 1990 after 6 years of training in Havana and Moscow. Between 1990 and 2004, I worked as a Biomedical researcher in the fields of Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Vaccine Development. This involves collaboration with many European and American research teams and working visits to leading Biomedical centres in UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Spain including several UK Royal Society Fellowships and a UK Wellcome Trust International Travelling Post-doctoral Fellowship at Glasgow University Division of Immunology/Microbiology, which can be followed up by publication in peer-review scientific journals. Tutoring Approach:
During my lessons, I focus on speaking in order to quickly improve Listening and Oral skills.. Initial assessment will highlight the student's strong and weak areas which I incorporate into my planning.

Progress will happen quickly as I know how to apply recognized teaching methods.

I have a particular interest in grammar and ensure that clear explanations are followed by independent practice.

I believe that learning needs to be achievable in order to increase confidence, this is especially true at the beginning of the tuition when I try to pitch the activities at the right level, before extending the student's further. .

I use zoom for online teaching, which enables me to share my screen, including for the purpose of watching videos or listening to extracts. After the lesson, I send the main exercise(s) completed by the student alongside useful annotations, which can be kept for future revision (screen images).

This is accompanied by a personalised report after each class including homework to consolidate any weak area highlighted during the lesson. This is very much appreciated by parents and students, creating a thread between lessons.

I have taught both languages to A-Level since 1996 across the state and independent sectors, including 13 years as Head of Spanish at a leading selective grammar school in Buckinghamshire. During this time, students consistently achieved excellent GCSE and A-Level results.
