Hello! I am 47 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 20 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. I'm Evan, a Chemistry undergraduate at the University of Oxford. I'm passionate about education and would love the opportunity to help you succeed in achieving your goals. I seek to get the most out of people and expect to also be challenged in the process. I believe that this is truly the best form of tuition, where both student and teacher learn from the interaction.

Teaching Experience:
I have experience tutoring in both Maths and Chemistry, and am currently a maths tutor for the EasyA app.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that a successful education requires solid understanding at every level. Education must not have holes, like a Swiss cheese, and so I will ensure that a student has fully grasped and internalised a concept before progressing. The strongest understandings are built on the sturdiest foundations, and this will always be in my mind when adapting my tutoring to your needs.

There is no right answer to "what is the best approach" - my first session will always be one hour to formulate a plan based on the requirements of the parent(s) or carer(s), to meet the learner in question, and to come up with a plan of action based on a variety of factors. This will incorporate target grades in school, achievements so far, existing attitudes to learning amongst other things.
