I have a BA in English Linguistics from the University of Malaga (Spain) and I am a fully qualified teacher based in a comprehensive secondary school, specialised in Spanish and French. Every Spanish lesson is customized on student progress, purpose and needs. I offer a high level of flexibility in terms of timing as I am available to give out lessons every day from 8 am to 11 pm weekends included. If you can't have your lesson in the same day every week I can arrange your lessons time by time at your convenience.
Students receive all the stuff they need to study Spanish (grammar, exercises, practice) in advance and there is a hard job behind that. If you study Spanish with me you don't spend a penny to buy books, audio-videos or other stuff.Also I run a After school club for kids.

Tutoring Approach:
I teach Spanish by developing written materials according to an individual learner`s needs.
I use materials of different types in order to make each lesson interesting and beneficial, including videos from Spanish websites, audio tracks, dictations and games.
Each lesson is usually divided into two sections: the first one is dedicated to study some new grammar and the rest of the lesson is focused on speaking, listening and comprehension exercises to help the student`s proficiency improving day by day.
An important component of my lesson is the "free conversation", where the students tells me what they have done in the last few days. Very useful are also my "driven conversations", based on newspapers articles or other writings, on different topics.

I charge £ 18 per 1 hour lesson or £ 25 per 90 minutes lesson at my house.

I prefer to be paid monthly in advance but if you struggle to pay monthly I can accept payment lesson by lesson.
If you can't attend a class, please advice 24 hours in advance and I will offer you to re-arrange your lesson for another day.
If you miss the lesson and you haven't canceled it in advance, you will be asked to pay for the missed lesson.
You can pay my lessons cash, via cheque, pay-pal or bank transfer. If you need a receipt for your payment, feel free to ask.

In my role I had to make sure that I delivered my teaching to specific objectives, to deliver the best learning to the pupils. Learning a foreign language is a process that implies some mimicking, language awareness, practice on comprehension, expression and also creativity. Some studies claim that the way we store languages in our brains is similar to that of data storing in a computer, but, of course, much more human, organic and alive. Languages have different components that need to be acquired and "stored" so that we can start feeling confident and creative in using them.

On the other hand, languages are a set of sounds, words (vocabulary), rules (grammar), expressions and even non-verbal language that are acquired both consciously and unconsciously. Conscious learning is a process in which I am extremely interested because it feels as if we are actually helping our minds to store the data so they can be available for us to use. This can be called monitored learning or instruction and it is an important part of the teaching activity: basically providing the tools for the learner to feel comfortable, confident and free using them.

I love grammar and language diversity and I always try to convey that passion to my students, since all sounds, words and structures have an origin and a history, they are also alive and that is what makes languages such wonderful tools for communication among very different people.

I then taught adults in a language school (Inlingua) in Germany, Italy and London. I came back to this country and got a job in a private school where I was the teacher in charge of Spanish. After working in this school for 21 years, I have just retired but miss the excitement of teaching.

I'm an experienced primary educator with over 30 years experience. I will work alongside your child and support them in their learning. Each child is an individual, so there is no 'one size fits all' that matches every child's needs. I will ensure your child has an individualised learning programme that supports his/ her requirements.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching since 1987. I have experience from EYFS through to Year 6 teaching the Primary Curriculum. I have experience of coordinating various subjects in schools, from Design Technology to being Special Education Needs coordinator. I currently teach KS2 children with Grammar, Spelling, Spanish and Music.

Tutoring Approach:
Each child is an individual and so my approach to teaching and tutoring is to reflect this. I have tutored a KS3 pupil in Conversational Spanish as part of her Duke of Edinburgh award (developing a new skill), as well as a KS2 pupil in Spanish, English and Maths. Hello! I´m Matt, a qualified Spanish teacher from Belfast. I hold a Master's degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages. Over the past decade, I have gained extensive teaching experience in both the UK and abroad, including five years in Spain. My experience spans teaching students from primary school through to adult learners, both in classroom settings and online environments. In addition to my teaching qualifications, I have managed curriculum development, welfare, and safeguarding responsibilities for summer programmes, demonstrating strong leadership skills. I have also served as a GCSE and A-Level examiner, which has given me invaluable insight into the examination process and what students need to succeed.

Beyond teaching, I have held roles as a Safeguarding Manager, where I ensured the safety and well-being of students in educational programmes. I have also developed learning resources, worked with academic institutions such as Queen's University Belfast, and led workshops for trainee teachers.

About Language Teaching
I believe that teaching is an art. Everyone has the potential to learn, regardless of mental hindrances. In my view, the role of a teacher is to understand both the limitations and strengths of each pupil and tailor a unique course accordingly.
The most essential requirement for a pupil is passion and the willingness to learn; the rest is the teacher's responsibility.
I started teaching Spanish as a means of earning a living when I first came to the UK in 1973. Ever since then, it has always been a source of income. I am a professional painter, but selling paintings is not a reliable form of income. I have excellent references from former students that I can provide on request.
