I live in Cheshire with my 16 year old son. I enjoy camping, the outdoors & the countryside in general. We like to travel around the UK, especially Scotland & Southern Ireland. I have been teaching in Further & Higher education for the past 29 years and I now tutor full time. I support Sociology, Politics, IR, Education, Nursing and Health and Social Care students. I am an examiner with a leading examination board and write regularly for Nelson Thornes and Hodder Education. Last year, some of my candidates were able to turn E grades into A grades at A2 level and many undergrads who were predicted 3rds achieved 2.1s. This was very satisfying for me and one of my A level students was able to go on & take a degree in Law after achieving a B, something he wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Prior to this, I was Head of Psychology at a secondary school where I taught the AQA A-level psychology specification. I also introduced and taught Sociology A-level. I am also passionate about wildlife conservation and have initiated campaigns in my local area to conserve areas of habitat for wildlife. For example, two years ago, I collaborated with local schools and councillors to stop the felling of 43 healthy trees at a historic green space in the town centre.

I chose to reduce my hours as a school teacher five years ago so that I could focus my attention on my tutoring business full time.

I have taught many students with a wide range of learning needs, including learning difficulties such as dyslexia. For example, I recently tutored a boy with moderate dyslexia who was in Year 6.
