That's why I'm so very proud to say that my students have achieved many of their goals, whether it's just a simple trip to Russia or passing their exams, living in bilingual families, helping their companies to strengthen relations with Russia and even working and living in Russia.

Здрaвствуйте! I'm Ludmila-a native Russian speaker with a Master's in Russian Philology and over 20 years of teaching experience. I help learners of all levels-from beginners to A-Level students-build fluency, confidence, and cultural insight. As a qualified UK teacher and Edexcel Russian examiner, I offer expert guidance for exams, conversation practice, and personalized lessons. My approach is friendly, structured, and effective-tailored to your pace and goals.

I was born in Latvia and am a native Russian speaker. I hold a Master's Degree in Russian Philology from Pskov University (1990) and a qualification in English as a Foreign Language from Daugavpils University. All of my degrees and certifications have been officially translated into English and verified by a solicitor.

In 2011, I obtained **Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)** for England and began teaching Russian in a secondary school in Nottingham. I currently work as an **MFL (Modern Foreign Languages)** and **EAL (English as an Additional Language)** teacher in a British secondary school.

I am very familiar with **Edexcel Russian GCSE and A-Level exams**, and I've successfully prepared students for speaking and writing components in multiple schools across Nottingham and Derby. As a **certified examiner for Edexcel**, I know exactly what examiners are looking for and how to help you succeed.

* **Personalized Approach**: Every student is different. I design lessons based on your level, goals, and interests-whether you're learning Russian for exams, travel, career, or personal enrichment.
* **Communicative Method**: I focus on real-life communication from day one. You'll speak Russian from your first lesson.
* **Clear Grammar Explanations**: I break down tricky grammar in simple, visual ways that make it easier to remember and use.
* **Exam Success Strategies**: For GCSE and A-Level learners, I provide structured support, past paper practice, and confidence-building tips to excel in speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
* **Supportive Atmosphere**: I'm patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in your progress. Lessons are motivating, never stressful.

Teaching Experience:
Before moving to the UK, I spent over 20 years teaching Russian and English in academic settings and as a private tutor. In total, I have 21 years of hands-on language teaching experience, helping learners of all ages and backgrounds succeed.

For the past 8 years, I've been teaching in UK schools, working with children aged 5 to 18, as well as adults. I'm highly experienced with GCSE and A-Level Russian exam requirements, and I'm proud to say that all of my students have achieved top grades (A or A*)-a reflection of both their hard work and my structured, supportive teaching approach.

One of my most rewarding projects was teaching a complete beginner from zero to C2 level, aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). I specialize in building confidence step-by-step, no matter where you're starting from.

Whether you need help preparing for exams, improving fluency, or learning Russian from scratch, I bring both professional expertise and a personal commitment to helping you reach your goals.

Tutoring Approach:
.
My goal is simple: to make learning Russian effective, engaging, and enjoyable-no matter your age, level, or reason for learning.

Over the years, I've developed a flexible and personalized teaching style that adapts to each student's pace, needs, and goals. Here's what you can expect from my lessons:

* 🎯 **Student-Centred Learning**: I tailor every lesson to your level and learning style. Whether you're preparing for exams, starting from scratch, or improving your conversation skills, your goals shape our lessons.

* 🗣️ **Focus on Communication**: From day one, you'll be speaking Russian. I prioritize real-life language use so you can build confidence in everyday conversations.

* 📚 **Clear Grammar, Naturally**: I explain grammar in simple, intuitive ways and show how to use it in context-no memorizing endless rules without meaning.

* 📝 **Exam-Focused Expertise**: For GCSE and A-Level learners, I provide targeted preparation, practice with real exam questions, and proven strategies. I know what examiners want-I'm one of them!

* 🌟 **Supportive & Encouraging**: I create a relaxed, respectful atmosphere where mistakes are seen as a natural (and useful!) part of learning. Progress comes faster when you enjoy the journey.

* 🚀 **Results-Driven but Fun**: I balance structure with creativity to keep lessons focused but never dull. You'll leave each session with clear progress and motivation to keep going.

Whether you're learning Russian for school, work, travel, or personal interest-I'll guide you step by step with patience, experience, and genuine enthusiasm.

Personal Description:
I am a bilingual (native Russian) educator with extensive experience teaching Science, Maths, and Russian across various levels, from nursery to adult education. Currently, I teach Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and advanced Maths at a small independent school in Bedfordshire.

I specialize in Maths and Science and have a particular interest in working with students with special needs and autism. I offer intensive GCSE exam preparation, with proven results such as helping a student improve their grade from 5 to 7 in just two months through focused sessions.

I hold multiple teaching qualifications, including an MA in Education (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), which I obtained in 2022. I have also worked as an examiner for AQA in GCSE Chemistry and have experience supporting students with challenging behaviours and special educational needs.

My approach incorporates sensory stimuli to enhance engagement and reduce transitional times, based on my dissertation research into educational motivation for teenagers with challenging behaviours. I am passionate about leveraging students' natural interests to drive positive changes in behaviour and academic attitudes.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience teaching Maths, Science, and Russian, both face-to-face and online. I employ various student engagement strategies to ensure a productive and enjoyable learning experience.

I began teaching Science in 1989 in Siberia. Since then, I have taught students of various ages and, after moving to the UK, expanded my teaching to include Russian. I also founded and ran a Russian language school for over 11 years, where I developed and tailored curricula to meet individual needs. The teachers I trained in my school are now making an impact in schools across the UK.

Maths: I teach Maths at various levels, from primary to GCSE. My approach focuses on building a solid understanding and confidence in the subject.

Science: I have been teaching Science since 1989 in different countries. In my most recent role at a private behavioural school, 90% of students initially expressed a dislike for Science, but 60% ended up eagerly attending my classes.

Russian: I teach Russian to a wide range of age groups, from 3-year-olds to 76-year-olds. I use diverse techniques tailored to each student's age, learning style, and schooling level to boost their confidence and maximize their potential.

SEND: I have a strong interest in teaching students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), sensory issues, and challenging behaviours. I aim to equip all my students with the skills needed for employability and adaptation to the working environment.

Tutoring Approach:
My goal as a tutor is to cultivate a deep understanding and confidence in each student. I adapt my teaching methods to meet their individual needs, learning styles, and abilities. I aim to inspire independent thinking by incorporating real-world examples whenever possible. I typically start with familiar topics to build confidence and gradually progress to more challenging material. Additionally, I use questions and homework to continually assess and reinforce understanding.

Personal Description:
Hello and welcome!

I'm a native Russian speaker originally from Kaliningrad who moved to the UK in 1996. These days, I've lived in Yorkshire longer than I lived in Russia, so my life is very much shaped by both cultures. I love sharing my passion for languages and helping students discover the richness of both Russian and English.

I am a qualified teacher in both Russia and the UK, and I hold degrees in English from Kaliningrad State University, Linguistics from the University of York, and Interpreting from the University of Bradford. My academic background, combined with many years of teaching experience, allows me to tailor lessons to a wide range of learners and goals.

As the mother of a bilingual son, I have a particular interest in language learning for bilingual children. In 2017, I completed a specialist course at Moscow State University in Methods of Teaching Russian to Bilingual Children, which further deepened my understanding of how children successfully develop and maintain both languages.

In March 2022, I became a published author with the release of My Favourite Subject is Russian, a collection of 30 texts designed to support students preparing for GCSE Russian.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy photography, art, and long walks in the Yorkshire countryside.
I look forward to helping you build your confidence in Russian and achieve your language-learning goals!

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) since 1991 and Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) since 2000, giving me more than three decades of experience supporting learners from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, abilities, and learning goals.

Throughout my career, I have worked with children, teenagers, university students, and adult learners, helping them develop confidence and achieve success in their language studies. My teaching experience includes both one-to-one tuition and classroom teaching in independent and language schools, including Prince Henry's Grammar School, Bradford Grammar School, and Bradford Girls' Grammar School.

I believe that language learning should be engaging, practical, and tailored to each student's individual needs. Whether you are learning Russian for exams, work, travel, family connections, or simply for the enjoyment of discovering a new language, I adapt my lessons to suit your goals, interests, and learning style.

In recent years, I have expanded my teaching practice online, successfully working with students from across the UK and beyond. Teaching remotely has allowed me to support learners at all levels- from complete beginners taking their first steps in Russian to advanced students preparing for GCSEs, A Levels, university studies, or professional communication.

My aim is to create a friendly, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and steadily building their confidence and fluency.

Tutoring Approach:
I see teaching Russian language and culture as both a privilege and a passion, and I am always delighted to welcome new learners. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is meeting people from different backgrounds and helping them achieve their individual language goals. Every student's journey is unique, and their curiosity, enthusiasm, and ambitions inspire me to create lessons that are engaging, practical, and tailored specifically to their needs.

Our first lesson is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your goals, and create a clear and personalised learning plan. Whether you are learning Russian for exams, work, travel, family connections, business, or simply for the enjoyment of mastering a new language, I will adapt the course to suit your interests, preferred learning style, and available timeframe.

If you have studied Russian before, I can carry out an informal diagnostic assessment to identify your current level and determine the best starting point. I teach in line with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and TORFL/TRKI (Test of Russian as a Foreign Language) frameworks and am happy to guide students towards these internationally recognised qualifications.

While we often select a suitable textbook to provide structure and continuity, language learning with me extends far beyond the pages of a course book. I regularly explore and evaluate new teaching resources to ensure that students benefit from the most effective and up-to-date materials available. Depending on your interests, lessons may incorporate films, documentaries, literature, photography, art, current affairs, music, and a wide variety of online resources that bring the Russian language and culture to life.

I believe that successful language learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. To support steady progress, I provide a structured learning programme, carefully selected materials, and personalised recommendations, including books, articles, films, podcasts, and other resources that match your level and interests. Thoughtfully designed homework helps reinforce learning between lessons and keeps the process enjoyable, motivating, and effective.

Whether you are preparing for an examination or learning at a more relaxed pace, I will ensure that lessons remain focused on your goals and progress. I also offer guidance on effective study techniques and extensive support for exam preparation, including Pearson Edexcel GCSE and A Level Russian, Cambridge IGCSE First Language Russian, and TORFL examinations. In addition, I work as an independent speaking examiner, giving me valuable insight into assessment criteria and helping students approach exams with confidence and success.

Above all, my aim is to create a friendly, supportive learning environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence as a Russian speaker.
