Personal Description:
Recently returned to the UK to live near my family after teaching abroad for many years. I have 2 teenagers who no longer need my constant attention. I enjoy speaking other languages and love teaching, especially one to one teaching, where I can focus all my attention on the individual.

1976-1987 EFL teaching in the UK and abroad. 6th form, secondary and adult. Also some ESL and home teaching.

1988- 2008. Primary teaching 3-12 year olds. I am trained in Early Years teaching. For 9 years I was the English Language Support coordinator in a large international school. My responsibilities included assessing children's needs, planning and teaching English as an additional language throughout the Infant and Junior school, improving reading skills and helping train other staff in the above. Each person's needs are different and my first job is to develop a trusting relationship so that I can quickly assess the priorities. Building confidence in prior knowledge comes next. It's important to pace the lesson so that there is just enough pressure but no stress. I like to work on all 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) whatever the goal of the class, and to that end use a variety of resources; books, cards, games, music, computer. I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature, and then from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a BA in acting, where I was the recipient of the Noel Coward Scholarship from 2008-2011. In July 2011 I won the Michael Bryant Award at the National Theatre, for verse speaking and Shakespeare.

My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual's needs; firstly finding ways of fully explaining a concept, then cementing them with useful and memorable material to build students' confidence. My main objective would be to aid the student in understanding not only the specifics of the work but also the broader aspects of it, which I believe provides a truer grounding in - and enjoyment of - a subject. I studied English Literature at Edinburgh University, graduating with a First Class Masters in 1999, before going on to train as an actor at the prestigious London Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2001. Since graduating, I have worked extensively as an actor in theatre, television and radio and since 2007 I have worked very closely with acclaimed theatre company The Factory as an associate producer and director as well as an actor. I'm a native English speaking tutor in the Westminster/Victoria area with a university degree in English Literature and Creative Writing.
I developed a love for reading at an early age, which eventually expanded to writing as well, and which led me to study English Literature and Creative Writing at university. I started off teaching English in Japan, but through a strange turn of events ended up in the Financial Industry, where I worked for over a decade. I am a friendly and approachable teacher and examiner with over a decade of experience. I hold Masters degrees in Education and Public Health, and am working on my PhD in London. Originally from North America, I have lived and worked in London since 2010.

Teaching Experience:
I qualified as a teacher of Humanities and Social Sciences (focusing on History, Religious Studies, and Psychology) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, before moving to the UK.

In my decade in London, I have taught Health and Social Care, Child Development, Psychology, and Religious Studies at GCSE and A-level equivalents (BTEC Levels 2 and 3 included), as well as tutored university students to support them with their writing and work on research methods.

Tutoring Approach:
I like to ask questions of the tutees to get them to think, but also to connect the work with what they may have already experienced. For example, when teaching Health and Social Care concepts, it is important to link this to the world around them, including what they may have seen recently in the news.

I would usually spend a few minutes at the beginning and end of each session just to check in with how the tutee is doing and what they would like to accomplish to make sure it is a productive session for them.

I am willing to not only support with exam subject knowledge, but to help with coursework modules as well in terms of understanding the content.

Hi I am a qualified primary school teacher. Teaching is my passion and I am here to help students thrive in their learning journeys. I am a mother to a little girl and we love the outdoors, exploring new places. I like travelling to different countries and experiencing the culture, food and history.

Teaching Experience:
I have 8 years of teaching experience in both key stage 1 and 2. Most of my years spent teaching and preparing students for the 11 + and SATS. I use a nurturing and engaging style to my teaching and incorporate the constructivist approach, allowing students to take a more active role in the learning process, encouraging them to use their prior knowledge as a foundation for understanding new concepts.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approach is child-centred and I tailor my learning and style to the needs of each child. I create a calm and nurturing environment so that my students feel at ease and have a love for learning. I help children over come their learning hurdles by providing one-on-one teaching in a given subject, assessing a child's level of education and supporting the gaps. I teach a variety of students, from those who are particularly struggling with areas of learning, to those who are looking for a challenge.

Hello! I'm Kallia, an experienced, qualified teacher. I mainly teach English and support students of ages 4-18, in a variety of skills such as reading, writing, comprehension and exam practice.

I am currently in training to become a dyslexia teacher and hopefully progress into becoming a dyslexia assessor.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught in inner city schools since 2016, when I qualified. Previously I used to work as a teaching assistant rural and city schools, starting in 2013.

My teaching experience comes from teaching across primary full time, working as a reading and numeracy support teacher with SEN children of ages 8-14 and teaching English GCSE, iGCSE and IELTS to students in the UK as well as across Asia and Europe.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approaches depend on the needs and goals of my students. Not one approach fits all and therefore communication is key in establishing good working patterns that will support the student in progressing and succeeding.

I have the tools to adjust my lessons to meet the criteria for those with Special Education Needs.
