Personal Description:
ANNOUNCING NEW AVAILABILITY:

FROM MONDAY, JUNE 6TH 2026 onwards.

Hello, all parents and potential tutees! A very warm welcome from Stuart!

I'm an enthusiastic, keen and good-humoured tutor, who teaches with commitment, dedication, passion and style!

I have been teaching Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level students now for more than 20 years - and I achieve great results.

I currently tutor students in English Language, English Literature and Maths - in the evenings and at weekends.

I am familiar with all of the English prose and play texts, as well as Poetry Anthologies and tutor students for both GCSE and IGCSE English Language and Literature.

I have a passion for poetry, I love Shakespeare, and, in my spare time, publish short stories. Creative Writing is my first love.

I also tutor students in GCSE and A level Maths - and am familiar with all of the syllabi (Edexcel; AQA; OCR).

I am currently coaching a number of students who are working towards their Entrance exams in Coventry and Warwickshire - for Warwick, King's High, the merged Bablake & King Henry Schools and Solihull School.

A native Scot, I attained my English degree (BA Honours) from Stirling University in central Scotland.

In addition to my English degree, I have a second degree in Education (1st class Honours) from Stirling University, which allows me to teach GCSE Mathematics, Sociology, Psychology and Politics.

My hobbies include swimming (I swim a mile almost every day!), writing short stories and poems and motorbiking.
.
References are available upon request.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching GCSE and A level English, Drama and Creative Writing for 20 years.

I was one of the 'pilot tutors' on Warwickshire County Council's Tutoring Programme for Children in Care, tutoring teenagers across Warwickshire in literacy.

I write all of my own lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

My style is engaging and enthusiastic. I have a passion for creative writing.

I tutor in the evenings and selected weekends, and set weekly written tasks to monitor students' progress.

A normal GCSE lesson lasts one hour, but I can offer 90-minute or two-hour sessions for AS/A level students.

I also specialise in creative writing workshops, and am a published author, contributing to a number of paid-for UK magazines.

I also tutor online via MICROSOFT TEAMS.

I have had excellent recent successes. In the 2025 summer exams, four of my GCSE students scored A** (level 9) grades in Language and three scored level 9's in Literature.
.
All of my last four A level English students have scored A grades.

I have also successfully tutored many students who have been accepted into Solihull School. Warwick School and King Henry School and Bablake School in Coventry.

Personal Description:
PSYCHOLOGY
I have a BSc (First Class Honours) in Psychology from Brunel University (2007), and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Cambridge (2011). I have worked as a research fellow and subsequently as a psychology lecturer at various universities in the U.K. My research is mainly in social, health and cognitive psychology, but I also teach research methods (both quantitative and qualitative methodologies), statistics and SPSS, as well as effective academic writing, including dissertations and research projects. In addition, I have sufficient competence in personality (i.e., individual differences) and clinical psychology to be able to teach these at undergraduate level. I have published over a dozen peer-reviewed articles, including some in world-leading journals, and have over 1300 academic citations of my research. Some of my research interests are: The attitude-behaviour relationship, behavioural interventions, motivation, cognition, and emotion, dual-process models of cognition, cognitive dissonance, self-affirmation, and information processing, emotional intelligence, mindfulness, health psychology, meta-cognition and self-knowledge, persuasion and social influence, intelligence and problem-solving, psychology of music, and psychology of religion.

PHILOSOPHY/CRITICAL THINKING/RELIGIOUS STUDIES
In my own research in psychology, I have drawn on several philosophical ideas, and have integrated different philosophical perspectives into my work. In addition to critical thinking, I am able to teach humanistic philosophy, social cognition, epistemology, existentialism, and related areas. I also teach how to build philosophical arguments for academic and commercial purposes. In terms of religious studies, I have a particular interest in the Abrahamic faiths, as well as Hinduism, Buddhism, and related philosophies.

MUSIC
I am a performer and teacher of Indian classical music (Northern style), and teach the instruments of dilruba, esraj, taus, taar shehnai and a bit of sarangi. I have been learning for 18 years, and been performing for the last 10 years. I teach beginners and intermediate students in basic and advanced raagas (from Yaman to Darbari) and taalas. I also teach vocal and harmonium.

ENGLISH LITERATURE
I specialise in creative writing, particularly short stories, and can teach students techniques in textual analysis and interpretation, especially using the hermeneutic method. I am also interested in how characters in stories (all genres) are given psychological depth, as well as how story structure and character development go hand-in-hand.

URDU
Urdu is my mother tongue, and is one of four languages that I speak fluently. I can teach beginners and intermediate students in grammar, reading and writing, as well as conversations. And I also teach advanced students in conversation. My particular interests in Urdu literature are 18th and 19th century poetry, especially ghazals.

DANISH
I am a native speaker of Danish, and spent the first 22 years of my life there. I can teach all levels of the language and its literature. Some of the key authors that I have an interest in are Søren Kierkegaard, Karen Blixen, H C Anderson, and we can also discuss Danish film, cinema, and culture. Danish is very similar to Swedish and Norwegian so by learning Danish you will be able to read those languages quite well, and you might be able to understand speech in those languages to some extend. There is also some overlap between Danish and German, though not as much.

Teaching Experience:

I taught psychology to undergraduates at the University of Cambridge from 2008-2011. I then taught at King's College London from 2011-2014, followed by the University of Bath from 2014-2017 and then Bath Spa University from 2017-2022. I also supervise BSc, MSc, and doctoral students. I'm currently lecturing at the University of Hertfordshire.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to use an interactive approach that encourages active involvement of the tutee. My main goal during tuition sessions is to stimulate an interest in the subject and facilitate independent and critical thinking. This, I believe, allows the tutee to become an independent thinker and to enjoy the learning process, which is rewarding for both parties.

Personal Description:
A highly effective educator; experienced, well organised, motivated, enthusiastic, with good sense of humour.

I establish rapport with my students. In my long career in teaching, I have learned how to make the most complex concepts in science 'digestible'. My motto is: 'Excellence in Education'.

I am a member of Pi Lambda Theta (International Honour Society in Education).

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Teacher/Lecturer, and have taught for over thirty years in Secondary, and Further/Higher Education in the US, the EU, and the UK. In addition to teaching students, I have trained teachers, as well.

I am very familiar with the AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and the International Baccalaureate specifications.

Tutoring Approach:

While my Bachelor's Degree is in Biomedical Science, my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, which means I have trained in designing and delivering effective lesson plans, as well as a complete curriculum. I design my instruction taking into account the student's learning needs. The 'one size fits all' approach to teaching is responsible for the failure of many students. Every student can learn and can do well in the right learning environment, and if there are no gaps in what is prerequisite knowledge for taking a certain course.

Knowledge builds on pre-existing knowledge. I make certain that my students really understand and appreciate that. I diagnose gaps in content knowledge and fill them, providing a solid foundation for my students to build on.

Study skills and exam technique, which figure prominently in my teaching, combined with a well-rounded, in-depth content knowledge, provide the key to success.

At the end of the course, my students not only do they have what they need to tackle the Biology, Chemistry, or Psychology exam, but also a wealth of learning skills which they can apply to other subjects as well, and which they will find essential in all their future academic studies.

Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has grasped the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content come alive. My PowerPoint presentations, as well as my notes on PDF or Word files are available for my students after the lesson.

I finish the lesson practicing exam-style questions, and I provide my students with lots of past exam papers. It goes without saying that regular revision is very important.

Personal Description:
I have spent many years accumulating a wide range of academic qualifications, and my work has often primarily consisted of passing on my knowledge to others in a form they can understand. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people to understand something they thought was beyond them. By virtue of having studied several subjects at a high level, I empathise with the feeling of finding something difficult, and have the patience and technique to get past this. I am not a single-subject specialist who might find it difficult to understand why others struggle in their area of expertise.
For students who are preparing for exams, my knowledge of examination technique, and an empathy with the marker, should be invaluable. I always keep in mind the importance of the student's goals, but never take myself too seriously.

Teaching Experience:

My whole career has been geared towards some form of teaching. I have trained groups of adults and children, as well as individuals, in elements of mathematics, psychology, actuarial science, pensions, and even tennis! I have tutored both of my children through IGCSEs, GCSEs, and A-levels (one was home-schooled, the other attended a local comprehensive and 6th Form College). Both obtained numerous As and A*s, and I was particularly pleased to help my daughter to achieve 3 A*s in her A2 exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I look at what is important for the student. I emphasise clear, logical ways of working, and clear presentation. I make sure that they realise that they not only need to understand why they are doing something, but they must also be able to explain it clearly. Explaining a difficult concept to someone else can often be the best way to make yourself remember it. I am calm and patient, and English is my first language, all of which can help when a student finds something tricky.

I am consistently available for tutoring during weekday daytimes. I will sometimes be available in the evenings and at weekends, but this will be by arrangement and should not be relied upon.

Personal Description:
Specialist in intensive Psychology, Anthropology & Sociology tuition, revision and exam preparation/technique for A-level, undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Teaching Experience:

A-level Psychology & Sociology
I have taught A-level for more than 20 years and am an examiner for a number of boards.
Many of my tutees have gone on to score 100% in units and after a comparatively short period of time improved their predicted grade/previous A-level score by several grades.

Undergraduate & post-graduate Anthropology, Psychology & Sociology
I have worked with students across these three subjects from most Russell Group universities providing general support through the course and/or assistance with specific assignments.

I hold a BSc in Anthropology from UCL and a PGCE from the Institute of Education, London.

Tutoring Approach:

A-level Psychology & Sociology.
As a specialist in exam-focused, intensive tuition, I provide tutees with full, clear, concise class notes and revision materials specifically aimed at ensuring that they understand exactly what is required in answers, how to address exam board assessment criteria, how to structure essays, how to manage time in exams, how to structure and manage revision, and strategies and tactics to maximise success. I can provide tutees with a huge bank of past paper questions and full model answers to accompany these questions.
Homework will be provided to tutees and marked as it would be by official examiners in live exams - thus, strengths and weaknesses can be addressed. A lot of assignments/homework will be set for tutees to complete between sessions.
I am an engaging, approachable tutor who enjoys teaching and makes learning interesting, rewarding and enjoyable. However, I will make demands on tutees in line with their aspirations and be entirely honest with parents and tutees about progress.

Undergraduate & post-graduate Anthropology, Psychology & Sociology
I can provide expert help in decoding question requirements, breaking essays and dissertations down into manageable chunks, and planning and structuring work in-line with module reading lists and marking criteria.

Recent testimonials state:

"Incredible tutor! Helped me achieve an A* in Psychology A-level while also helping me with my university application and personal statement. Makes really helpful and concise notes which allowed me to achieve top grades in the A level without having to write a huge amount in essays. Thank you so much Jeremy"

"Our daughter received a C in her Sociology mock in February and with the help of Jeremy she has just achieved an A* in her A level exam. Jeremy was supportive and followed the direction of her strengths and weaknesses, supplying detailed notes each week on her chosen topic, and giving specific feedback and a graded mark on each assigned practice question completed. Jeremy made sure each possible area was covered prior to the exam."

"Jeremy has been a godsend! He has helped my daughter through her Anthropology degree, which is a difficult subject. He is kind, thoughtful, hard-working, straight talking, reliable, understands the remit and supports through difficult times.
She was awarded a first.
Thank you, Jeremy."

"Jeremy has made work that I initially found rather complex very easy to understand. He structured what I needed to do so well that I started to wonder why I was even worried in the first place. He has been unbelievably helpful with both Psychology and Anthropology."

Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor and A level and GCSE teacher with over 31 years experience.
I have had a lot of success with my private tutoring, having helped many students achieve the grades they need to gain entry to the university courses of their choice - including medicine, veterinary medicine and dentistry.
I have helped students in all the main exam boards including AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Eduqas.

I have excellent communication skills and a very approachable manner which quickly puts students at ease.

I am married and have four children, three of which have passed through A levels so I know what it is like as a parent and teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a secondary and sixth form for 25 yrs teaching GCSE and A level Biology and Psychology as well as being a sixth form tutor. I also have supported students applying for medicine, Dentistry and veterinary course with support with personal statements, interview practice and BMAT and UKCAT.

I have been tutoring Biology and Psychology for over 20 yrs with great success with students from both the state and private sector. I have helped students from Collyer's; The Weald School; Steyning Grammer; Seaford College; Worth School; Farlington and Reigate Grammer to name a few.

My subject knowledge is very good being educated to BSc (Hons) in Biology and MSc in Psychology

I am very flexible and will either tutor in my own home or am happy to travel to you.

Tutoring Approach:

My main focus has been tutoring and teaching A level Biology and more recently Psychology.and have been very successful in helping students of all abilities to improve their grades to allow them to make their next step in their education.

My strengths are that I have very good communication skills and put students at ease allowing for the greatest progress to be made.

I focus on two main areas. Firstly in breaking down theory areas to make it understandable. I get students to learn key words and use revision spider diagrams to see the overview of difficult topics so they don't get lost in the theory. Then I use these spider diagrams to help them select accurately the correct theory areas to answer exam based questions.

Secondly I focus on exam technique, deconstructing questions to focus on how to structure an answer and then to select the correct theory to use in the answer.

I can offer a selection of services.

A) simple tuition: focusing of understanding specific areas as the student needs

B). Tutoring programme: setting up and organising a tutoring programme for several lessons that will cover, systematically, a larger area of the subject.

C). Revision programme: creating a revision programme with the student and managing the students revision programme in the subject (s). This will take the student up to the exam.

I Include setting and marking exam based H/W's.

I also include revision material and workbooks as well as past paper packs with mark schemes.

I have been very successful with students from those wanting to take up Medicine, Veterinary or Dentistry courses, to those who just want a pass to everyone in between.

I do face to face or online sessions

Personal Description:
I am a 48 year old male Psychology teacher, I have been teaching for 17 years and I love it. I am friendly and approachable but more importantly patient. I appreciate that A Levels can be difficult and that sometimes a little bit of support and extra guidance is required in order to maximise our potential. If you are struggling to keep up with the fast pace of psychology, having difficulty interpreting examination questions, struggling to write those longer essays, and want to achieve the best possible grade in your examinations, then let me help you. My motto is 'There is no such thing as a stupid question, if you don't get it, ask'.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Psychology for 17 years. I have taught in both schools and standalone sixth form colleges. I have been an assistant Head of Department for a very large Psychology Department and I have also been a Head of Department in a school. My Psychology students have achieved marks well above the national standard. I am also an examiner for AQA Psychology. This has given me expert knowledge of exactly how to interpret and answer questions in order to gain full marks. I have taught AS, A2 and GCSE Psychology for AQA, aswell as AS for OCR.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an exam question orientated approach as being able to interpret questions is vital. If you don't know what they are asking of you, how can you answer it properly? We will take your class notes and use them to construct the perfect exam answers. I will set you work to complete, which I will then mark and provide you with constructive feedback at the start of each session. In addition to you own notes I can supply you with new resources, workbooks and revision packs.

Personal Description:
I am a positive and highly motivated Teacher, who believes in providing support for pupils to gain the key skills necessary to reach their full potential and to be successful. I am knowledgeable and passionate about Psychology, Health & Social Care and Child Care and Early Years Education courses. With my knowledge on memory I have an excellent record of supporting students with revision and exams and enabling them to go onto their GCSE, A'Level, vocational level 2, 3 or 4 courses and desired university courses. I provide high quality support for students with coursework on vocational courses in order for them to achieve their potential and to go on and be successful in their chosen careers.

Teaching Experience:

Psychology Teacher AQA GCSE & A Level also OCR, ED EXCEL
Health and Social Care level 2 & 3, GCSE & A Level (vocational and academic)
Psychology Units on Foundation to Higher Education courses
Child Care levels 2 & 3 GCSE and Vocational level 3
Child Development and Early Years Education Level 3 with practicing knowledge of applications of outdoor learning
ACCESS to HE / Nursing/ Midwifery

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring for exams is to focus specificly on the paper that the student is sitting. The content, how to answer exam questions, memory techniques, revision tips, taking into account all learner styles.

I love Psychology, Health & Social Care and Childcare and Education and really enjoy teaching these subjects so my enthusiasm motivates my students. I typically teach within schools but tutor one to one and also small groups either face to face or electronically. My teaching methodology tends to focus upon the needs of the student/s but would always begin with gaining an understanding of the students current knowledge and any gaps in learning. This ensures they are completely up to date on their understanding of the subject. I work in line with the current specification of what the student is learning and revising for or creating coursework for. I set work for students each session to complete for the following session and give them feedback to ensure they are progressing each time. This is measurable and graded. I also look at tasks they have been set by their school/college and support them with planning so they fully understand the requirements that are needed to gain the best grades they can achieve. I ensure I am available throughout the week with some online support via email and can be contacted via skype also at an additional cost.

Study skills tutoring: I provide this as an agreed package where I am your child's 'exam buddy' for a period of time. This involves me supporting your child through a stressful time in their lives. I help them to plan their time and create revision timetables, plans, resources and so on. I would check in with them on agreed days/ times via skype to see how they are doing with their studies and revision on the lead up to exams and assessments and help to support them through this. I provide this for students working towards any assessments such as 11+, GCSE's A'Levels and any other level 2 or 3 courses. This is a holistic educational support service for a fixed period. My Pug 'Tiggy' often joins in with the skype for younger students which can support them in keeping it fun and interesting and help them to stay on target. I also include anti-stress resources, stress busting techniques, basic mindfulness skills, breaking down stress barriers worksheets, tips and discussions. The study skills/ exam buddy package is charged at a rate dependent upon requirements.

I provide face to face tutoring and skype tutoring with email support throughout the agreed period.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable tutor with extensive experience in academia, both as a graduate teacher and a student (I'm currently a PhD Psychology student). Having completed my GCSEs, A-levels, a BSci in Psychology, an MSci in Psychological Research, and currently pursuing a PhD in Perceptual Psychology, I understand the challenges students face. I know what it is like to miss something or not quite grasp a concept as explained by a lecturer. While I love studying, I also recognise that it can be difficult, so I maintain a strict no-question-is-stupid policy. I encourage you to ask me anything and everything related to our studies.

Teaching Experience:

I bring over four years of teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant, specialising in guiding first-year undergraduate students who are just beginning their journey in Psychology. During this time, I have gained extensive experience teaching a wide range of topics and modules within the Psychology degree program through interactive seminars and lectures. I am currently undertaking the Advanced HE Associate Fellowship to develop and demonstrate my teaching excellence.

A significant aspect of my role involves teaching students how to write academic essays that meet university-level standards, which differ substantially from A-level expectations. I am well-versed in the university mark scheme, having assessed and provided feedback on many different essays and practical reports. This experience has honed my skills in delivering constructive written feedback and conducting one-on-one feedback sessions to help students improve their work.

In addition to my role as a teaching assistant, I also have experience as a teaching demonstrator, where I provided hands-on instructions and facilitated practical sessions for second-year students. This role allowed me to engage students in experimental aspects of psychology to reinforce theoretical knowledge through practical application.

Furthermore, my ongoing PhD studies in Psychology keep me at the forefront of current research and methodologies which I incorporate into my teaching to provide students with up-to date knowledge and practices.

With a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment, I am dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals and develop a deeper understanding of Psychology. My experience, combined with my passion for teaching, makes me an excellent choice for students at various levels of their academic journey.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that everyone learns best in different ways, so my teaching is flexible and tailored to you as an individual. I offer a free initial session where we will discuss the topics you wish to cover, your academic goals, the skills you want to develop, any problem areas, and your preferred learning methods. Together we will create a personalised plan of action to make sure you get the most out of your sessions.

My methods are highly adaptable and depend on your preferred learning styles and level of study. Below are some examples of the methods I may use in our sessions. The list is not exclusive and our lessons will likely involve a combinations of these and other techniques:
- Lectures and PowerPoint presentations via screen sharing technology
- Call-and-response sessions to reinforce learning
- In-depth discussions on key topics
- Student-led Q&A sessions
- Essay and assignment planning
- Proofreading and feedback to improve your writing
- Reviews of relevant published papers
- 'Journal club' style meetings
- Oral presentation practice (online)

If you have friends who are interested in a group tutoring sessions, this is can be arranged. Reach out about this and we can discuss it further.

Personal Description:
My name is Kierri & I've been a professional tutor for the last 15 years. I genuinely love to learn and believe I learn as much from my students, as they do from me. I'm a writer & a poet & though young people don't always favour these topics, I believe my passion for English, really inspires and motivates students and if they don't catch the inspiration for learning, their grades naturally raise as they go along. So it's a win win for me and for the student.

Teaching Experience:

I've dedicated my professional life to teaching & I much prefer teaching students one on one. They get the generalised teaching at school & then they get the attention they truly deserve in the comfort of their own homes. Schools teach students to pass exams, I tutor to encourage a love for learning and overall development. I've been dedicated for 15 years and have taught hundreds of children and adults, of all ages and at all levels and abilities - including children with SEND needs.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is tailored to the individual in front of me. If they need a conservative, structured lesson or a more casual, relaxed environment - then that is what they will have. A completely personalised experience, yet not stuffy or boring. Students must take a role in their own learning & not feel like they're under constant authority. Every student learns in a different way and I adapt my teaching style to suit each person.
