I live in West Cornwall with my young family, and currently work as a private tutor and academic mentor. Born in Brighton, it was there in 2009 I completed my teacher training and began a career as a science teacher.

As well as my classroom teaching experience, I have worked as a laboratory researcher, science editor, and more recently as an independent advocate within the field of mental health. Additionally, I hold an undergraduate degree in genetics and a masters degree in psychology.

I help them to plan their time and create revision timetables, plans, resources and so on. I would check in with them on agreed days/ times via skype to see how they are doing with their studies and revision on the lead up to exams and assessments and help to support them through this. I provide this for students working towards any assessments such as 11+, GCSE's A'Levels and any other level 2 or 3 courses. This is a holistic educational support service for a fixed period. My Pug 'Tiggy' often joins in with the skype for younger students which can support them in keeping it fun and interesting and help them to stay on target. I also include anti-stress resources, stress busting techniques, basic mindfulness skills, breaking down stress barriers worksheets, tips and discussions. Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Mairead (pronounced ma-raid, an Irish name meaning Margaret). I am a 26 year old living in Feltham, I work full time as a Disability Advisor and Autism Specialist Mentor supporting higher education students to access reasonable adjustments, provide pastoral support and advice. I also co-run workshops and events for the university I work for. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, spending time with my family, going to the gym, long walks and nature trails, swimming and arts and crafts. I am also a big fan of the cinema and watching the new films out. I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2018, with a first class honours degree in Criminology and Sociology BSc. After graduation I became a support worker supporting those with mental health issues before my current role. I have recently completed a specialist mentoring qualification. I am content working full time currently, but may do a Masters or further study in future.

Please be aware for KS1 and younger tutoring my rates are £15 per session rather than per hour, to reflect that younger children may benefit from shorter sessions, but that their sessions will still need planning and admin work.

Teaching Experience:
I have created and delivered workshops for classes of up to 90 pupils from primary school aged to university level on a range of creative and academic topics. I also have experience tutoring 1-to-1 for primary school aged students who have disabilities/ special educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is thoughtful and considered, I am a disciplined teacher who will set expectations for her students, but am also fair. I enjoy utilising technology for tutoring sessions as organisational tools and will set weekly goals that will be reviewed. in our first session, I find it is important to discuss learning outcomes and to monitor progress as we go through our tutoring journey.

Good Morning
I am Mr Haig and been teaching A level Psychology, Sociology, Biology and GCSE Science teacher since 2019 in a prestigious school in St Albans. My classes are humorous, funny and almost immediately you are getting into Psychology and Science.
My students usually score from 65 to 79 in the exams (B to A*), except Bobby he scored 61 still B but could had done much better.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching in Hertfordshire since 2019, St Albans. Before I thought in China for 2 years, where I learned how not to teach and what to avoid in classrooms. My multicultural background avoids the cultural bias and gender bias (girls are better in psychology).

Tutoring Approach:
I am using the AQA, Edexel, OCR boards as they are most common examination in the country. My classes are dynamic and full of energy. The experience that you will gather, will not just help you to pass the test with flying colours but also you will be able to explain simple psychological and science phenomena that occur in our day to day activities. You will look at the world more like an Enigma code that needs to be cracked.

From these challenges, I use an integrated and collaborative approach with the student at how we can best face these challenges using specific tasks.

I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, manageable parts, and I encourage active participation through questions, practice problems, and real-life examples. My goal is not just to help students get the right answers, but to build their confidence, critical thinking, and long-term understanding of the subject - fostering their love and passion for it! I also provide regular feedback and adjust my teaching strategies based on what works best for each individual.

My personal strengths lie with supporting the student with exam technique. For example, how to answer exam based questions using specific subject terminology and focusing strongly on how to write these answers in an academic way. I use techniques such as scaffolding and modelling to embed these concepts, and this has proven successful with my cohort of students.

Most importantly, I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and are motivated to keep improving.
