Personal Description:
For over a decade now I have worked with a diverse range of students, engendering a passion for learning as well as producing tangible results. I prefer a flexible and dynamic approach crafted from an understanding that we are each upon a unique learning pathway according to our particular styles, aspirations, aptitudes and needs.
"Thank you very much for the great work you did with my daughter Sophie. She progressed from a 'C' grade to an 'A' grade in the space of 6 months and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to friends." - Billy, Bangor
Teaching Experience:
"The learning exercises were always set around my interest areas, making tuition both fun and effective. Following my sessions with Andrew, I have developed a more concise way of communicating. My writing now has more flow, which helps me say what I need to say." - Neil , Newtownabbey
I'm passionate about nurturing the potential of each student with whom I have the privilege to work. With over 8 years experience as a Learning Coach with countless individuals and groups, Diploma in Life Coaching as well as a successful university graduate (1st class hons in Philosophy) and additional Masters research degree in Developmental Psychology, I previously taught at Secondary school and most recently trained nursing professionals to pass their IELTS exams.
I am also a regular public speaker and workshop leader in the private health sector, delivering courses in areas from stress-management and communication skills, to self-care and personal development.
Tutoring Approach:
"Andrew was very professional in his approach to tutoring. My daughter gained confidence in her ability to understand her subject and to recall information using association techniques which proved very useful in her examinations."
Grainne, Randalstown
This coaching-based approach I take has proven highly successful. I approach each student and the sessions with an open mind to learn what I need to be of support.
Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a uniquely engaging, personally attuned service. The first lesson typically consists of a complimentary educational assessment (usually 30 minutes) to help identify key areas for improvement . All results can be shared with the parent/guardian. Based on this initial assessment, a 100% individual and tailored programme of learning is created. While encouraging the student to adopt high yet realistically achievable targets for their own education, I am also sensitive to the level of each student and what he or she is ready to adopt.
3 EXAMPLES OF HOW I HELP FOR LITERATURE-BASED TASKS:
1. Working from the question to the answer: appreciating and understanding key requirements of a question, and any relevant marking criteria.
2. How best to structure and qualify sentences so that the answer is complete and accurate.
3. Most effective study / revision / exam techniques such as mind-mapping, worked answers, memorising.
AREAS COVERED / WHAT TO EXPECT
My specialist subjects at all most levels are literature-based and the human sciences particularly philosophy, religion and ethics. Alongside these, I also specialise in 'study skills', offering a very personalised, tailored approach that incorporates motivational coaching on exam and essay skills, ensuring maximum value for investment of your time, money and effort.
**Upon request I am also able to provide emotional literacy around life skills such as: motivation, communication, self belief and concentration.
"I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for tutoring Philip this year; he adapted well with you as his new tutor and enjoyed your approach to teaching.
"I would have no hesitation in recommending Andrew as a tutor. I found him to be polite, courteous, reliable, and accommodating."
- Doreen, Ballyclare

Personal Description:
A highly effective educator; experienced, well organised, motivated, enthusiastic, with good sense of humour.
I establish rapport with my students. In my long career in teaching, I have learned how to make the most complex concepts in science 'digestible'. My motto is: 'Excellence in Education'.
I am a member of Pi Lambda Theta (International Honour Society in Education).
Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified Teacher/Lecturer, and have taught for over thirty years in Secondary, and Further/Higher Education in the US, the EU, and the UK. In addition to teaching students, I have trained teachers, as well.
I am very familiar with the AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and the International Baccalaureate specifications.
Tutoring Approach:
While my Bachelor's Degree is in Biomedical Science, my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, which means I have trained in designing and delivering effective lesson plans, as well as a complete curriculum. I design my instruction taking into account the student's learning needs. The 'one size fits all' approach to teaching is responsible for the failure of many students. Every student can learn and can do well in the right learning environment, and if there are no gaps in what is prerequisite knowledge for taking a certain course.
Knowledge builds on pre-existing knowledge. I make certain that my students really understand and appreciate that. I diagnose gaps in content knowledge and fill them, providing a solid foundation for my students to build on.
Study skills and exam technique, which figure prominently in my teaching, combined with a well-rounded, in-depth content knowledge, provide the key to success.
At the end of the course, my students not only do they have what they need to tackle the Biology, Chemistry, or Psychology exam, but also a wealth of learning skills which they can apply to other subjects as well, and which they will find essential in all their future academic studies.
Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has grasped the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content come alive. My PowerPoint presentations, as well as my notes on PDF or Word files are available for my students after the lesson.
I finish the lesson practicing exam-style questions, and I provide my students with lots of past exam papers. It goes without saying that regular revision is very important.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor and A level and GCSE teacher with over 31 years experience.
I have had a lot of success with my private tutoring, having helped many students achieve the grades they need to gain entry to the university courses of their choice - including medicine, veterinary medicine and dentistry.
I have helped students in all the main exam boards including AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Eduqas.
I have excellent communication skills and a very approachable manner which quickly puts students at ease.
I am married and have four children, three of which have passed through A levels so I know what it is like as a parent and teacher.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught in a secondary and sixth form for 25 yrs teaching GCSE and A level Biology and Psychology as well as being a sixth form tutor. I also have supported students applying for medicine, Dentistry and veterinary course with support with personal statements, interview practice and BMAT and UKCAT.
I have been tutoring Biology and Psychology for over 20 yrs with great success with students from both the state and private sector. I have helped students from Collyer's; The Weald School; Steyning Grammer; Seaford College; Worth School; Farlington and Reigate Grammer to name a few.
My subject knowledge is very good being educated to BSc (Hons) in Biology and MSc in Psychology
I am very flexible and will either tutor in my own home or am happy to travel to you.
Tutoring Approach:
My main focus has been tutoring and teaching A level Biology and more recently Psychology.and have been very successful in helping students of all abilities to improve their grades to allow them to make their next step in their education.
My strengths are that I have very good communication skills and put students at ease allowing for the greatest progress to be made.
I focus on two main areas. Firstly in breaking down theory areas to make it understandable. I get students to learn key words and use revision spider diagrams to see the overview of difficult topics so they don't get lost in the theory. Then I use these spider diagrams to help them select accurately the correct theory areas to answer exam based questions.
Secondly I focus on exam technique, deconstructing questions to focus on how to structure an answer and then to select the correct theory to use in the answer.
I can offer a selection of services.
A) simple tuition: focusing of understanding specific areas as the student needs
B). Tutoring programme: setting up and organising a tutoring programme for several lessons that will cover, systematically, a larger area of the subject.
C). Revision programme: creating a revision programme with the student and managing the students revision programme in the subject (s). This will take the student up to the exam.
I Include setting and marking exam based H/W's.
I also include revision material and workbooks as well as past paper packs with mark schemes.
I have been very successful with students from those wanting to take up Medicine, Veterinary or Dentistry courses, to those who just want a pass to everyone in between.
I do face to face or online sessions

Personal Description:
My 13 years experience working as a Principal Examiner included responsibility for writing your A Level and AS Psychology exam papers for a major exam board; awarding grades to students and writing the all important examiner reports. In this respect I have a true insight into how Psychology exam papers are set and marked having supervised the marking of thousands of exams since 2002. I was also part of the team that wrote and produced the new A Level Psychology specifications for 2008 and 2015.
I have been providing training and support to staff and students since 2003 and visit numerous schools and colleges regularly especially during the key revision season. I am a regular speaker for Keynote Educational Ltd and also run successful staff and student Psychology webinars.
Teaching Experience:
I have over 20 years teaching experience and have taught and examined for both AQA and Edexcel specifications at A level and GCSE. I have written articles for Psychology Review and am a published author having written textbooks at A level and GCSE.
Tutoring Approach:
Whether its simplifying content or more importantly understanding what the examiners want then look no further.
My sessions are always dictated by the needs of the student and we will typically focus on building confidence in understanding and answering exam questions. Getting your written abilities to match your verbal abilities is key as so many students know the answer but just cant write it down in the exam in order to get marks.
Exams have changed significantly so there is less guessing what's going to be on the paper and a heavier focus on applying knowledge to questions. I will challenge you to tackle these and other types of questions so you are fully prepared for them.
I always say 50% of your grade in August will be down to the correct type of revision and the other 50% is down to how you interpret the exam question, together we will successfully tackle both. I look forward to working with you, either face to face or online via Skype, and helping you achieve something special.

INTERESTS & EXTRACURRICULARS:
• I am passionate about Padel, a racket sport like tennis, most popular in Spanish-speaking countries. According to ITV, it is currently the fastest growing sport in the world. I regularly train with my coach and compete for national rankings in the British circuit.
• I am also a fitness enthusiast whether it is spending time in the gym or swimming. My interest in sports has continued since schooling years, having captained my school teams in Athletics, Swimming and Football competitions.
• Public speaking has been a strong interest which I fulfilled, during my education years, via taking part in Model United Nations conferences. This developed my communication skills which allows me to deliver clear explanations to my students. I represented my school and university in conferences at:
- Oxford University;
- Harvard University;
- Imperial College London;
- Cambridge University;
- Global Young Leaders Conference;
- London School of Economics.
Teaching Experience:
Some of my past clients with their written testimonials are listed below:
• Mr. C - Economics Adult Learner from UK Investment Bank:
'I thought, in all honesty, you were patient, likeable, kind, and encouraging. I thought you covered the material well and concisely and, really, I don't see how what you were offering could have been done any better. It was brilliant.'
• Ms. R - MSc Economic Policy Student from University College London:
'Unlike other tutors, when you explain something it sticks in my head.'
• Ms. R - Business Studies Student from Birkbeck College:
'Haris is very keen and dedicated in his job. He explains the concepts very clearly and succinctly. He was very patient with me as English was not my first language. Haris encouraged me and helped me utilise my abilities to their fullest. He is very efficient when it comes to reaching his aims and always seeks his hardest to achieve the targets. I strongly recommend Haris to all my friends and family members.'
• Mr. A - University Statistics Student from University College London:
'The results came in. I got a first! Thank you very much.'
• Mr. R - A Level Economics Student from Edexcel Board:
'It was a pleasure to be tutored by you. It was extremely helpful. My exam went very well. I felt quite confident with it. I only wish I had called you earlier than I did and maybe started the tuition straight after my January exams. However, the help you gave me in the little time we had was brilliant.'
• Ms. G - University Accounting Student from Regent's University:
'You are my trophy tutor!'
• Mr. B - Executive MBA Student from Imperial College London:
'I would like to thank Haris for his professionalism in giving me tuition. He has been able to, in a short period of time, give me good foundations which enabled me answer the exam questions confidently. He has been very focused in guiding me through Macroeconomics and I have found his tuitions very effective. This has resulted in my top mark in the exam.'
• Mr. E - A Level Business Studies Student from AQA Board:
'We are very impressed with Haris. My son gets on very well with Haris.'
• Ms. W - A Level Economics Student from Cambridge Pre-U Board:
'Haris has been exactly what we needed for our son's revision sessions. He is an excellent teacher and has been helping our son enormously. I would highly recommend him to any student who is not 'up to scratch' with the topic. Haris achieved the 'near impossible' with our son. He made the topic so interesting that our son wants to further progress and take the subject to the next level.'
Tutoring Approach:
I believe personalised and result-driven approaches are essential ingredients for effective tutoring. I believe a good tutor is adaptable to both exam-oriented tutoring and tutoring for the sake of gaining knowledge. My tutoring strengths include:
• Concept-Focused;
• Professionalism;
• Passionate;
• Emphasis on Past-Papers;
• Patience & Clear Explanations;
• Subject Matter Expertise.

Personal Description:
I am a 48 year old male Psychology teacher, I have been teaching for 17 years and I love it. I am friendly and approachable but more importantly patient. I appreciate that A Levels can be difficult and that sometimes a little bit of support and extra guidance is required in order to maximise our potential. If you are struggling to keep up with the fast pace of psychology, having difficulty interpreting examination questions, struggling to write those longer essays, and want to achieve the best possible grade in your examinations, then let me help you. My motto is 'There is no such thing as a stupid question, if you don't get it, ask'.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching Psychology for 17 years. I have taught in both schools and standalone sixth form colleges. I have been an assistant Head of Department for a very large Psychology Department and I have also been a Head of Department in a school. My Psychology students have achieved marks well above the national standard. I am also an examiner for AQA Psychology. This has given me expert knowledge of exactly how to interpret and answer questions in order to gain full marks. I have taught AS, A2 and GCSE Psychology for AQA, aswell as AS for OCR.
Tutoring Approach:
I have an exam question orientated approach as being able to interpret questions is vital. If you don't know what they are asking of you, how can you answer it properly? We will take your class notes and use them to construct the perfect exam answers. I will set you work to complete, which I will then mark and provide you with constructive feedback at the start of each session. In addition to you own notes I can supply you with new resources, workbooks and revision packs.

Personal Description:
With over 90 dissertations completed with a specialist in Qualitative Research (Critical Discourse Analysis, Grounded Theory, Thematic Analysis, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, Heuristic and Relational Analysis) all achieving 2/1's and above I can offer complete support.
I also provide essay support for students, teaching content style, how to research, reference and build an argument to achieve a good 2/1 with quick results or for the student who wants to learn about critical analysis and logic a more comprehensive support to gain a 1st.
I also provide exam preparation and support for those who have anxiety and need to prepare well ahead for the examination. As a trained therapist I adopt a person centred style to achieve results.
Teaching Experience:
My teaching experience is extensive, having taught at Kings on the Medical Course for a number of years, Birkbeck and SOAS as well as South Bank University. Currently I teach on the Masters Course and have supervised numerous dissertations to a high level. My expertise is in qualitative methods where I did one of the first phenomenological Doctorates looking at the lives of male substance users, whilst working with them therapeutically.
I currently work with students to do qualitative dissertations ranging from Kings, UCL, LSE, Goldsmiths, Queen Mary's and City Universities. I can work all the way up to Doctorate level and have worked with four counselling psychology students, two criminology, one Sociology and a Psychology student. At Masters level I have worked with law students, nurses, Social Workers and Sociology students.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is drawn from Bruner, Vygotsky and Rogers, based upon scaffolding the student to build their confidence and expertise so they begin to develop their own expertise. Within an exam for example students require a deep knowledge of understanding of what is required and therefore need support to be able to do this. Essay writing requires a different set of skills, such as being able to research a topic and move to building an argument. For many students this requires considerable scaffolding at first.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, spending time with my family, going to the gym, long walks and nature trails, swimming and arts and crafts. I am also a big fan of the cinema and watching the new films out. I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2018, with a first class honours degree in Criminology and Sociology BSc. I am content working full time currently, but may do a Masters or further study in future.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is thoughtful and considered, I am a disciplined teacher who will set expectations for her students, but am also fair. I enjoy utilising technology for tutoring sessions as organisational tools and will set weekly goals that will be reviewed. in our first session, I find it is important to discuss learning outcomes and to monitor progress as we go through our tutoring journey.

With a First-Class Honours degree in Social Anthropology from a Russell Group university, Qualified Teacher Status, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (passed with distinction) specialising in Sociology and Psychology, I bring both academic rigor and a deep enthusiasm for the subjects I teach.
I thrive on fostering curiosity and understanding, using contemporary examples to bridge theory with real-world relevance. My ability to simplify intricate concepts ensures that students not only grasp material but also develop critical thinking skills that extend beyond the classroom.
With experience working across mainstream and private educational settings, I have supported students with diverse learning needs, tailoring my approach to ensure every learner reaches their potential. My organised and driven nature, coupled with a keen interest in sociology and psychology beyond academic settings, allows me to create enriching learning experiences that inspire confidence and engagement.
I firmly believe that it is a privilege to be part of a student's learning journey, helping them unlock their potential and sharing in their success. Whether working one-on-one or in group settings, I am dedicated to providing a structured yet approachable learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and motivated to excel.
Teaching Experience:
With over a decade of experience in education, I have had the privilege of working with students across diverse learning environments, tailoring my approach to meet individual needs and foster academic growth.
For 10 years, I worked as a teaching assistant in a private specialist provision, supporting young people with a range of complex needs. This role allowed me to develop a deep understanding of differentiated learning strategies, adaptive teaching methods, and the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive educational space. Working closely with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams, I honed my ability to navigate challenges with patience, empathy, and professionalism, ensuring that every learner felt empowered in their educational journey.
In the past 3 years, I transitioned into mainstream settings, specialising in GCSE and A-Level Psychology and Sociology under both Edexcel and AQA specifications. In this role, I have had the opportunity to lead students through rigorous academic content, equipping them with the analytical skills needed to engage critically with complex theories and real-world applications. My experience in mainstream education has reinforced my ability to deliver structured yet accessible lessons, bridging foundational concepts with contemporary examples to enhance engagement and understanding.
Across both specialist and mainstream settings, my commitment remains the same-to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and confident in their abilities. Whether working with learners who require tailored interventions or guiding students through demanding academic curricula, I am dedicated to ensuring each individual reaches their potential.
Tutoring Approach:
I am an experienced and approachable tutor with a strong subject specialism in Psychology and Sociology, dedicated to helping students maximise their academic potential. In my current role at a high-performance secondary sixth form, I facilitate targeted intervention sessions, supporting students in attaining higher grades by refining their understanding of complex topics and exam techniques.
My approachable nature and in-depth subject expertise allow me to build trust with students, ensuring they feel confident engaging with challenging material. I focus on scaffolding knowledge and skills, carefully guiding learners through structured progressions that enhance comprehension and application. Additionally, I am adept at modelling effective written responses, empowering students to meet the demands of their content and develop strong analytical and evaluative skills essential for excelling in assessments.
With a tailored, student-focused approach, I strive to create an environment where learners feel supported and encouraged to push their academic boundaries. My goal is to help students develop confidence, critical thinking, and a mastery of subject content, equipping them with the tools they need for success in both exams and beyond.
