Each student is different, and I feel it an insult to my students' integrity to tell them how to revise when first meeting them. Through my experience teaching, there is no right way to study, but there are a variety of 'better' ways to make the best grades for each person's potential.

Many students approach me frustrated that they often don't achieve the same calibre as their peers despite the hours they put in. Often it is due to the fact that they aren't their peers and a different approach to revision and homework is required. I believe in working smart before working hard.

I like to break up whichever subject I am tutoring into the various topics that make up the syllabus. I am a PhD mathematician, with a special interest in applied mathematics and statistics. I worked for some years in University departments as a tutor and then lecturer. More recently I have worked for almost two decades in industry as a mathematician at a prestigious research centre in Cambridge. The details of the correct approach vary from one tutee to another, but the principles remain the same. I seek to establish the student's ability within the context of a given aim and to then set realistic objectives.
I think that most students have more mathematical ability than they themselves believe; this can be brought out in a positive fashion once negative stereotypes are discarded. Also the application of mathematics to the real world can be exciting and profitable.

I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. I am from Milton Keynes and achieved straight As at A-level and three 9s, 4 8s and 4 7s at GCSE. I specialise in maths and science tuition encompassing KS3, GCSE and A-level

I am currently a second year medical student at the University of Leicester. In my free time I love playing football and basketball and I support Manchester United

Teaching Experience:
I have had multiple opportunities to teach other medical students with difficult modules as well as tutoring science to GCSE and KS3 students
