I put an emphasis on a deep understanding of each concept, theory, method, and observation, as well as acquiring and mastering technical skills.I am thorough in teaching, and besides explaining everything clearly I also provide and walk with the student through the necessary material - usually in the form of slides, interactive questions and quizzes, simulations, notes, problems and past papers / exam practice papers - for a solid understanding through assimilation of the ideas as well as practice. If they are feeling overwhelmed and confused I can help them get clarity and regain control over their school work. I know the curriculum really well and can identify where they have gaps in their knowledge and target those areas. I will tailor my lessons strategically so that the greatest achievement is managed in the shortest space of time. If your child has been attending school regularly, they often know way more than they realise, sometimes all they lack is clarity, practice and confidence. If your child has missed school through illness I can help them catch up. I am happy to help home-schoolers and can do various home-based science experiments to encourage engagement. Depending on your individual circumstances and what is best for your child I can arrange lessons before exams or during holidays. Oftentimes a block of six lessons, arranged weekly, is enough to get a child back on track and working without my help.

I was awarded my PGCE in Secondary Science in 1997 with Qualified Teacher Status from Sussex University. Since then I have taught in various schools in Sussex, Essex and Bristol. I have experience with all ages and abilities at key stage 2,3 and 4.
