I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. Teaching physics is a great privilege and pleasure having taught A Level physics for both OCR and Edexcel boards as well as GCSE and iGCSE physics and chemistry. I am currently in the process of creating an A-level OCR physics course for an Oxfordshire school which is both challenging and hugely rewarding as I know it will be used for the A-level students for years to come.

We have about 50 students in each of years 12 and 13. 26 of our Physics students gained grade As at AS Level in 2006. 48% A and A* at A2 Level in June 2011. Hello! My name is Gemma and I am a 32 year old doctor, chartered accountant, strategy consultant and successful start up founder. I graduated in medicine from Nottingham University in 2016, switched to finance, became a qualified chartered accountant, and now work for one of the 'Big4' in health advisory and strategic consulting. However, my heart will always lie with the sciences, and somehow in amongst all of my wide ranging career, my favourite job has always been teaching.

Hi I'm Meghavi and I am a BSc Physics graduate from Imperial College London and I have a QTS (Qualified Teaching Status) at grade 1 - Outstanding. Currently, I work as a Consultant in the Digital Transformation space. I have always been interested in teaching, from my GCSE years, I began helping my friends with their school work. Moving to A level years I started helping out some of the teachers in my school to run after school sessions to help kids with their Homework. I would say I am very patient and will sit there till the concept is clear in their minds. I am not the kind of person who gives up easily so I will do what it takes to make sure an idea or concept is understood. As a person I am very friendly and bubbly. Clearly each student is different, and so the way of teaching each one will be different. However I believe that if the foundation is strong nothing can go wrong. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.

From previous experiences I believe the key areas students need help in are:
- learning the foundation of the subject
- how to manage time in exams
- how to structure their answers in an exam
- lots and lots of practice
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be their as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

I have conducted my past tutor sessions based on creativity of my hobbies such as art, which always worked absolutely well. I tutored very young children outside school who lacked motivation, in Sciences and Mathematics since when I was a GCSE student. I have many experiences working with children, especially with spending my work experience as an assistant in a primary school class, I was able to deal with various situations to keep the children calm, focused and motivated. As a school tutor during my A-Level studies, I have tutored GCSE students for Mathematics. I applied my patience to introduce difficult ideas carefully. In the cases for tutoring mechanics, my tutee found it difficult to identify and link various components of the forces together and to grasp the content clearly. Thus, I investigated the source of this lack of understanding then gave a clear explanation and support. Afterwards, I managed to explain various application questions using the struggling contents and interacting with my tutee (ie. asking what the next step would be) as I went through the questions to expand his understanding. I shared my method of working out the questions logically and giving clear guidance helped him greatly, hence, I was able to see improvement in his speed of understanding and solving of the questionnaires, showing a transition in his grades in Mathematics.

My mentoring sessions are carried out in innovative ways to ensure all aspects of the content is understood (ex: embedding simple terminologies and associating everyday situations for comparison to ease the hard contents), are full of collated useful resources and present them in the most appropriate way for individual's own learning styles, are delivered with tolerance and patience at all times. My teaching methodology becomes flexible to appropriately suit the individual's learning styles to efficiently carry this tutoring session forward. However, my basic format of teaching is always going through the struggling content to make sure the understanding of it becomes clear then is based on questionnaires in-between going through the content or (application) questions to check upon the students' understanding then involves various interactive activities (ex: quiz, mix-match, ...) to engage the learning. I always work towards finding the best route for my mentees. Through my tutor sessions, my tutees always develop their confidence, self-esteem and their competencies.

I have a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (PhD), with years of first hand experience in satisfactorily engaging and supporting students as I attempt to demystify and tear down barriers (or challenges) in different subjects areas. I am passionate and enthusiastic at teaching Mathematics, Physics, Engineering related modules and Computer related modules including programming as I create an empowering environment for students while demonstrating empathy, pastoral care and patience at all times. Hi, I'm Frances a friendly retired Science teacher. I am an active 60 year old lady young at heart who enjoy spending time with family and friends. I always have had a passion for teaching and love to see children achieve their potential. I graduated from London University in 1984 with a joint honours in Maths and Physics. The following year I completed my PGCE in Canterbury and then began my 32 year teaching career. During this time I had my own family and now have two grown up children both in their twenties. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, cooking, gardening and decorating my new house.

I have thirty two years teaching experience having taught in four different secondary schools in Kent during my career. I have taught science for over thirty of these and I am predominately a Physics specialist having taught up to A level. I have taught combined science courses along with core and additional science courses. This involves teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics all up to GCSE level. I have held various managerial positions including being a Head of Department and been responsible for examination entries and moderation of coursework.

I love to understand and know about the laws of universe which is written in the language of mathematics as Galileo Galilei says- "The book of nature is written in the language of mathematics". So I try to understand the approach of scientists to learn about the unreasonable effectiveness of Mathematics.
