I am a professional freelance trumpet player. I have performed with many well-established artists and ensembles, including Kenny Wheeler, Alex Wilson, Dave Hassell, Pete Long, the Ronnie Scott's Big Band, the Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, the James Taylor Quartet, the BBC Big Band, the Ronnie Scott's Vanguard Big Band, and the live jazz orchestra for the 2009 X Factor Big Band Special. I have also performed at various festivals, including London Jazz Festival, IAJE conferences in Los Angeles, New York and Toronto, Lugano Estival Jazz in Switzerland, Derby Jazz Festival and Newark Jazz Festival. As well as this, I have a jazz quartet that I regularly compose original music for, which is currently performing throughout London.

Teaching Experience:
Since 2008 I have been teaching privately throughout London. I teach trumpet, jazz improvisation, jazz harmony and general music theory. I am also committed workshop leader and have already had considerable experience on a number of summer schools and jazz courses in the Midlands.

I am a former trombonist of the Band of the 3 BattalionRoyal Regiment of Wales, and former conductor of other male choirs including Newport (Gwent) and Snowdown (Kent).

I also studied singing at many RSCM courses. I have performed in a variety of venues including Bath Abbey, the Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Cathedral, Cardiff Castle, Dover Castle, Plymouth Hoe, the NEC and Wembley.

I really enjoy performing, conducting and teaching - all three skills I use to the pupil's advantage.

In 2001, I formed what is now the very successful Wessex Male Choir, whom have since won many competitions on the International stage, and which is still growing in size (now 60 choristers strong!), musical ability and popularity. See our website

In the ten years I've studied bass I've gained a B-Tec National Diploma in music and music tech from Tauntons College and a Higher Diploma in music performance from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford where I am also studying for a Degree in music performance. This education fuels my passion for my instrument, and with such a huge variety of influences to choose from I couldn't see myself doing anything else.

Teaching Experience:
As a new tutor i have limited teaching experience however; during the course of my studies for my degree i have on many occasions had the opportunity to take on the role of the musical director of a performance. As a musical director i have had to think of different ways of explaining a task to my peers and have gained relevant teaching experience in the process.

I have found the best way to tech someone a new subject is to try and relate the subject to something the student has an understanding of or an interest in.

I am a graduate of the Newcastle University BMus (Hons) Folk and Traditional Music where I specialised in Scottish traditional fiddle music. I am both an experienced teacher and performer, having performed at various festivals throughout the country. I am comfortable playing in a variety of musical styles and I am happy to tailor lessons to the interests of each individual pupil.

Teaching Experience:
During the past five years I have taught a range of age groups from young school pupils to adults in both one to one lessons and group settings. I have also had a great deal of experience teaching beginners, most recently the Bellingham Middle School Ceilidh Band. During my later years of school I assisted with a young children's string orchestra and also an intermediate traditional music group. As part of my degree I have studied different techniques of teaching traditional music within the community.

Tutoring Approach:
The initial lesson provides an opportunity for both myself and the pupil to discuss any past musical experiences and also understand what they wish to gain from future lessons. I plan my lessons around the interests of the pupil which in return allows them to get the most out of their lessons. Whilst I strongly believe that there are benefits to reading notation, I also teach by ear and am happy to focus on this if a pupil so wishes. I encourage my pupils to bring along any music they wish to learn in addition to their set pieces.

I use various teaching resources which I have both collected and created myself to cover all areas of piano playing, i.e. sight-reading, theory, scales, technical exercises, duo and ensemble playing. I am a singer/composer/producer and songwriter. I've worked mainly in the advertising world, composing and producing for television.

In terms of teaching, I have helped people with regards to Vocal Coaching, Singing, Songwriting Techniques, Music Production and Relaxation, all under the bracket of music and performing.

I have taught privately for 4 years. I have helped people develop their songwriting craft and assisted them in developing their songs and finding their own uniqueness. I also assist in recording sessions/rehearsals, focusing on making sure the vocalist is in a good emotional space and we can also look at technique and diction and the emotion behind the song.

In terms of production, I tend to work with Logic Pro, but the principles of production are to do with sound selection and arrangement. I help students hear which sound choices work, and hear the finer details in well crafted and produced songs. Once the principles are understood, this allows them to apply them to their own work.

I have a relaxed yet very focused approach to tutoring. First we'll identify the student's goals and intentions, whether it's purely singing based, or involves aspects of songwriting and performing or production. We then set some targets and work together to achieve them.

In terms of vocal technique, I have studied and integrated elements of 'Bel Canto', Speech level style singing, and more contemporary forms of vocal development. I also explain what each vocal exercise is designed to do, so we know why we're doing certain exercises.

Relaxation techniques are a big part of my work. This allows us to breathe more freely, and helps free us of any tensions which may stand in our way.

I have been teaching privately for the last four years, mainly Maths GCSE but also A Level and Physics GCSE / A Level, and have helped a number of students obtain the grades they required.
I have experience of teaching OCR, AQA or Edexcel syllabuses.

Tutoring Approach:
I'm exam focussed, as most pupils have been taught the syllabus but need help applying that knowledge to answer exam questions.
I initially work through an Exam paper or two with the student to identify any topics that require more in depth tuition. I will then focus on that topic for a lesson making sure the pupil understands the basics then build their confidence up applying that knowledge to answering questions, easy ones initially then building up to the required grade.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying at ICMP (2nd year university, BMus Guitar). I studied with top UK teachers such as Martin Gouldin (Head of Jamtrack Central), Nate Williams (Jamiroquai's pianist and bassist) and Audrey Riley (Cellist of Coldplay and Foo Fighters) and top Italian guitarists such as Osvaldo Lo Iacono (Amii stewart's guitarist). I play any genre: Jazz,Rock,Metal,Reggae,Blues,Latin,Pop and so on. I play Drums, Bass but my main instrument is Guitar.
After only 1 year of playing I was already showing incredible progress by playing technically challenging songs as Technical difficulties by Paul Gilbert and so on(videos on socials). I used to and currently play from 6 to 9 hours every single day, Metronome, technique and theory lover. I have been always studying music at very high level. My favourite artists are Bach,Chopin, Debussy, Charlie Parker, Guthrie govan,Andy timmons,Gary moore,George benson,Steve ray vaughan, John petrucci, Marco sfogli, Greg howe, , Albert king, Mike stern, Joe pass,Clifford Brown, Pat Metheny, Pat Martino, Bireli Lagrene, Art blakey, Michaael Brecker, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and many more.

I'm kind, passionate and available all the time. Teaching is my biggest passion.

I have been teaching to any age for 5+ years. I have been studying with teachers for over 8 years. I learnt how to teach by taking countless hours of lessons with great teachers. I taught to classes of 30 and individuals of any age

Tutoring Approach:
I divide big tasks into smaller ones making the experience of learning not frustrating but very rewarding. When I teach, I try to make the person use his or her logic to learn faster. I have been teaching music for lots of years and I developped a way to understand the person in front of me and understand what the student needs to learn first. Teaching music is what I want to do in life so I take it with the most commitment I can. I study and I studied a lot. My motto is never stop learning because the more you know,the less you think you know
What I like is to give lessons about all you have to know: posture, approach, mentality, method,theory, practice, mindset,short and long term goals, covers, improvisation, rhythm and lead playing,music genres, music history,technique, how to listen to music and so on. Setting goals and finding a way to reach them the fastest way possible is also a technique I adopt with students.

I specialize in Piano lessons for children and adults, from beginners to advanced level of performance.
I teach piano, music theory and music history both privately and in school. I have a Post Graduate from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and Masters Degree in piano and teaching. I am a fully qualified teacher with QTS and DBS.

Personal Description:
I very much enjoy working with other people and passing on what I have learnt. I find it wonderful seeing people with that lightbulb moment when everything just clicks into place. I work in my local area of Plymouth and online. I use Skype and gmail classroom but can download other software if required I also use an interactive whiteboard and two monitors to help facilitate a good working environment.

Teaching Experience:
I have over ten year's main stream teaching experience in a classroom environment and eight years as a tutor/specialist. I've taught Music, English, Science, Maths, Art and Primary (KS 1 - 5). I`ve run my own department. As I'm also a musician I've taught guitar, cello, violin, keyboards and music theory. I use many different approaches to encourage development. When you see someone understand, learn and expand it is (in my opinion) fantastic.
I'm experienced in working with SEN. I`ve achieved excellent results with pupils with specific learning difficulties and behavioural problems. My experiences in this area are in Down syndrome, dyslexia dyspraxia, ADHD, Asperger's, ASD, verbal dyspraxia and sensory processing disorder. I've also taught pupils with cerebral palsy, deafness and visual acuity problems. I`ve completed a basic sign language course & RPM for ASD. I did this so I could communicate with pupils, without relying on a teaching assistant to translate for them/me.
Apart from classroom teaching and tutoring I've also been a curriculum coordinator for people with ASD. I specialize in helping clients with learning difficulties and disabilities (ASD, ADHD, Asperses, & dyslexia/dyspraxia). This role involved designing a unique syllabus/curriculum and managed a group of educators.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe it`s very important to understand how people approach learning. Everyone learns differently. I like to understand a pupils strengths through looking at how they learn (Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic (VAK)). I take the information I learn and find the best way to adapt teaching/learning. I like to use a holistic approach.

I have over 20 years of teaching experience and have achieved a fellowship from the Victoria College of music in London for classical guitar playing and is a graduate Open university with a BA(Hons) first in humanities with music and history. Lessons are very supportive, friendly and interactive, using teaching files and mp3 examples to hear and perform the music.
