I was brought up in Cardiff and my claim to fame is attending the same school as Gareth Bale and Sam Warburton. I'm a Christian, married to Jifelane - the most wonderful woman in the world. She's from Mindanao in the Philippines and we met online! I'm a proud dad to two beautiful children, Isaac and Hannah. I'm much travelled, play guitar, write songs and enjoy carp fishing especially on a warm Spring or Summer day. I am also an author! I published my first book 'Moondust' in 2015 and have recently self published another two, available in the Blurb Bookstore.
As a person I am patient, reflective and believe strongly in integrity. I am compassionate and enjoy seeing the funny side of life - I attempt to bring these qualities to my work. Teaching Experience:
My professional experience is rooted in the breadth and depth of a teaching adventure which spans over twenty five years. Teaching mostly across Key Stage 2 (but also including KS1), it is entwined with close collaboration with colleagues from Reception through to Y6. I am keenly aware of the learning journey through the Primary School. Most of my teaching career has been in England and I have taught in a diverse range of schools. I am familiar with and use a range of teaching and learning strategies and believe that getting to know the child, coupled with quality assessment is the best way to help move them forward.

I endeavour to use a range of communication strategies which include listening, observing, questioning, explaining, modelling, storytelling and coaching. I have high expectations of myself as a tutor and high hopes and expectations of the learners in my care. I believe that effective teaching and learning comes from a being a reflective and critical practitioner, so whilst I will use tried and tested approaches initially, I will then adapt to suit the learning needs of the tutee. Most of my school and college education took place in Dudley (West Midlands) and I studied Biochemistry, at Leeds University (1975-8). I am married and have lived in Cheshire since Dec 1978. Teaching Experience:
During my long service in the Pharma industry (~30 years), I have run many short courses and workshops. During 2005/6, I mentored a pupil (Year 10/11) at St. Peter's High School, Longsight, organised by the University of Manchester. In the past, I have also been responsible for organising and running the weekly classes at the Sikh Temple (Gurdwara), for teaching youngsters the Sikh way of life & Punjabi culture, in helping to improve their knowledge and integration into the Western Society over a period of ten years.

I also have an undergraduate 2.1 with Honors degree in French and Italian at The University of Manchester. I am a 24 Year old with a degree in Early years education. I am currently doing my Qualified Teacher Training at a primary school and tutor children in Maths on the weekends. I have tutoring children for many years to help them excel in schools so that they can reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience:
Through the years, the goal of educating young children has been the focus of my chosen work experiences, both in Health and Social Care (Level 3) at A Level to outside the classroom. From shadowing Early Years Practitioners to assisting Reception class teachers, I have made my rounds from school to school. The invaluable lessons learnt at these settings gave me the skills used to run an afterschool homework club at the local community centre. This included maths and English classes taught to the children as an extension of the school curriculum to help them get a better footing in their classrooms. Combined with my bachelor's degree in Early Years Education, I've attained a well-rounded knowledge on childhood.
During my time volunteering at the local community centre, I aided in many after school and summer school activities. The aim; to widen the experiences and opportunities for the children of Somali refugees. My reasoning for volunteering here is that I was once one of these children and this was the same community centre that widened my own horizons. However, this did not have my focus, instead, afterschool homework club did. These experiences showed me that I am willing to go above and beyond for the children that need it both in and out of the classes.

As a nanny for two children in Key Stages' 1 and 2, I was fortunate enough to gain experiences of at home teaching of curriculum-based resources provided by the school during the lockdown. It was an invaluable insight into primary school curriculums and gave me the necessary experience needed into teaching, without leaving the house. I aimed to follow these schedules down to the break and lunch times to give the children a sense of normality and a readiness to learn during this unpredictable time.

Tutoring Approach:
Teaching is a rewarding job where children learn through fun and grow to become more inspired and confident learners. Its challenges include time management, differentiating learning styles and lack of funding to name a few. I found time management to be the most important of all, not only for the children but also to aid the teacher themselves, both in and out of the classroom. This leaves time and energy to brainstorm teaching styles specifically for the children being taught, to create a classroom where children with varying learning styles can be educated differently yet equally.
