I am a graduate in Mathematical Economics from the University of Birmingham. My original career was as a Chartered Management Accountant but I always had the ambition to move into teaching. I have been tutoring children one-to-one since 2012. I also run a maths and English training centre for 3 to 14 year olds. I was a governor in a primary and then a grammar school for many years before entering the teaching profession. I was on the GTP training course for Secondary Mathematics at London South Bank University before deciding to go down the tutoring route. Many pupils find the transfer from primary to secondary schooling academically challenging. I can explain the underlying mathematical concepts and show them how to approach questions so that they can get into the maths set they deserve. I have a background in senior industrial and commercial management, both in the UK and overseas; also senior experience in the public sector (local government and NHS). I took time out in my thirties to gain my PGCE.

Teaching Experience:
I have never taught full-time (although I was once up to around two-thirds of a full timetable). I have worked in further education colleges and as a supply-teacher, mostly in secondary. In addition, I have long experience as a governor of my old private-sector school, so understand very well the requirements for successful 11+ and 13+ entrance.
