I am a retired A Level Physics and Mathematics teacher at a Tertiary College. We have about 50 students in each of years 12 and 13. 26 of our Physics students gained grade As at AS Level in 2006. 48% A and A* at A2 Level in June 2011. This is twice the Welsh average which puts us at the top of tree. 67% A*,A or B in 2012 in my class. Three of my students have won the Institute of Physics prize for the highest A Level marks in Wales with several gaining 600/600. I also teach A Level Mathematics (Pure, Mechanics and Statistics) and A Level Electronics. Previously I was head of Mathematics, Computing and Physical Sciences but I preferred teaching to administration so I returned to full-time teaching. I like to entertain and inspire! I am a female primary school teacher in the Doncaster/Wakefield area. Aside from my enthusiasm for teaching and helping children to achieve, I am interested in academic areas including sociology and languages. I enjoy travel and reading. I am currently a 3rd Yr BSc Discrete Mathematics (Maths & Computer Science) undergraduate at the University of Warwick with a predicted grade of First.
Mathematics has always been a passion of mine because I love the problem-solving aspect of it and the useful applications it has to the real world. Maths is far more significant than most people think, since most of us use it in our everyday life, yet they lack the proper understanding of certain concepts to solve various unseen problems.

I have experience tutoring A-level Maths and Further Maths students and have taught maths tutorials at multiple universities. In my previous role, as a postdoc, I ran weekly problem solving classes and drop in sessions. During my PhD I helped dozens of students as a teaching assistant in similar classes, building their understanding when they were stuck on difficult questions.

Tutoring Approach:
I aim for my sessions to be highly interactive and tailored to your needs. Here is an idea of how a lesson with me might look: I usually start with a warm-up quiz, which helps me find your base-line understanding of a topic. From here we build on that base-line, either filling gaps in understanding, introducing new ideas or diving into more depth where something is unclear. To end we work through a couple of more challenging questions on the topic, applying what we have learned throughout the session.
