Tutoring Approach:
I usually tend to approach lessons by going through the background of the topic in focus and a few worked examples before giving students questions to answer themselves and going through worked solutions. Independent practice is a key part of becoming stronger in a subject, and the more a student practices, the better they will get, and this is a truly rewarding feeling. Throughout lessons, I work with a highly friendly, approachable and patient approach to tutoring, as it is vital to ensure that my students feel comfortable to ask questions on whatever topic they may have difficulties with.
Furthermore, I aim to be as concise in my explanations as possible and I like to break down problems into manageable chunks. For example, I encourage students to underline keywords in questions and, particularly in maths and science, to draw diagrams to help them visualise problems. When it comes to exam technique I teach students precisely how to answer certain styles of question to score full marks and show as much working wherever possible. This is not only a very important skill to have to get good grades, but it will help them develop more of an understanding of the problems they are solving.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe in tailoring the teaching approach to each student's needs and individual learning style. For school children and university students, I discuss their aims with them - and with their parents, if required - to determine what topics need additional tuition and then to work out the appropriate programme. I advocate continuous assessment to measure the student's progress. Closer to exams, the pupils will work through focused papers. Teaching Experience:
Through the years, the goal of educating young children has been the focus of my chosen work experiences, both in Health and Social Care (Level 3) at A Level to outside the classroom. From shadowing Early Years Practitioners to assisting Reception class teachers, I have made my rounds from school to school. As a nanny for two children in Key Stages' 1 and 2, I was fortunate enough to gain experiences of at home teaching of curriculum-based resources provided by the school during the lockdown. It was an invaluable insight into primary school curriculums and gave me the necessary experience needed into teaching, without leaving the house. I aimed to follow these schedules down to the break and lunch times to give the children a sense of normality and a readiness to learn during this unpredictable time.

Teaching is a rewarding job where children learn through fun and grow to become more inspired and confident learners. Its challenges include time management, differentiating learning styles and lack of funding to name a few. I found time management to be the most important of all, not only for the children but also to aid the teacher themselves, both in and out of the classroom. My name is Edwin. I am originally from the United States and have lived in Scotland since 2016.

I enjoy working with children and helping them reach their potential. As a university student, I first discovered my interest in teaching by volunteering in my mother's preschool. And since then, I have worked with children in varying capacities. Outside of teaching, I was a volunteer youth counsellor for five years and a volunteer youth basketball coach for four years.

Teaching Experience:
I am a newly qualified Primary Teacher in Scotland, currently working as a supply teacher. I have experience teaching at all levels of primary education in a variety of school settings.

As a doctoral candidate, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) at the University of Glasgow. In this capacity, I led seminars and helped students plan their essays, which I later marked.

I also used to work as a substitute teacher and after school coordinator in the United States, working primarily with early level students.

Tutoring Approach:
As a teacher and a tutor, I build positive relationships by being both professional and approachable.

Understanding their prior learning is important for creating challenging lessons which engage and motivate my students. Furthermore, I stay up-to-date with educational initiatives and learning strategies.

Pupil welfare must always be the first and foremost consideration, and I strive to teach to their needs and in the style which best benefits them.
